The Lordship Estate was the last, major, private housing development in the town (main 1960s-70s). At the centre of the estate is what is now the home of Letchworth's Cricket and Hockey Clubs. The cricket club moved to this site from its former home on Muddy Lane at around the time this picture was taken.

Letchworth - an otherwise small town in north Hertfordshire, England - is famous as being the world's first "Garden City", being founded in 1903 by Ebenezer Howard. Many social and planning innovations that we take for granted today first appeared in Letchworth. For more information on the town see here.
