I remember
the first time I played this game. I don't remember where it was or who
was there; all I remember was that beutiful red biplane. Pilotwings is
a brilliant game. You're in training trying to get your (what'd ya know?)
Pilotwings. In each level you must master a new skill as well as improve
on the old ones. Flying a light plane, parachuting, hang-gliding, and
jet packing (not in that order). If you play this game once, you'll get
hooked.
Graphics: (6/10) Pilotwings is not pretty!
But, you must realize, Pilotwings has 3D environments with free movement
in all directions. For a SNES game, that's impressive. You can tell that
all the buildings are flat and the detail fades quickly into the distance.
But the illusion is convincing enough to make it fun.
Sound: (7/10) VROOOOOM!!!! I love the sound
of the light plane! The sounds in Pilotwings are great! The music is unique
and soothing. Sound effects are present and do their job well.
Fun: (9/10) Woohoo! Jump off a helicopter
and skydive through 5 rings, then pull your chute and land on a moving
patform over water! It's a blast. Once you've completed the first 4 training
areas you get to go on a millitary mission. Then you return to training....
at night. Pilotwings is more than fun.
Creativity: (9/10) Who would have thought
a game about flight training would be so damn cool? The original concept
is very creative and a lot of thought has been put into every aspect of
this game. Great stuff.
Multi-Player:
Sorry. Single player only.
Tips and Cheats:Game Winner's cheat
codes.
Errors: Yessir. These complex 3D graphics
don't translate well. Use Snes9x and you won't
have too many problems. The light plane is real trippy if you fly close
to the ground and turn... hahaha
