...to
the problems in our lives, examining what we are doing
or experiencing and measuring it against the examples
provided in the testament of Christ with footnotes to
increase our understanding provided by the apostles
by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Their direct
witness of the ministry of Christ and the application
of the principles that he taught is expressed and taught
to us in the text of the Bible.
Some
examples of errors in judgement made by the disciples (the
ones who knew by witness with their own eyes...the ones that
we can refer to and make the judgement call, "they should
know better than to doubt or question the Lord") need
to be expressed. The ones that reveal the humanity in us all...that
even the most devoted servant of God is going to struggle
from time to time with attacks from the spirit of unbelief.
One
of the most famous is doubting Thomas. The story of
Thomas is noted in John 20 : 24. One
of the disciples, Thomas, "The Twin," was
not there at the time with the others.
When they kept telling him, "We have seen the
Lord," he replied, "I won't believe it unless
I see the nail wounds in his hands-and put my fingers
into them-and place my hand into his side."
Eight days later the disciples were together again,
and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were
locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing
among then and greeting them.
Then
he said to Thomas, "Put
your finger into my hands. Put your hand into my side.
Don't be faithless any longer. Believe!"
