What Went Right:Very
little. "NYPD Blue" (21) came back early, to an earlier slot, and
didn't
do too
badly.
Other
than that, look to "What Went Wrong."
What Went Wrong:Just
about everything. "Millionaire" (31 & 43) faded quickly from the
top
10, and established series took a dive. the base sitcoms, "Drew Carey"
(53), "Dharma & Greg" (56) & "Spin City" (61) are sinking fast,
the new shows "Thieves" (82) & "Alias" (42) never got started and
the
dramas "Once & Again" (86) & "Philly" (46) are on the verge of
cancellation. Even football dropped from the top 10 for the first time
ever. The network is down on every night, and in every demo.
Cancellation Is Calling:Millionaire,
Once & Again, Spin City, Alias.
Is There Hope?The
only upcoming sitcom is "The Job," which tanked last season. Newsmags
are
about to be spread out after contracting last season, and "Millionaire"
is on the verge of being cancelled. The only good news for the
underperforming
series are that ABC probably won't cancel them- it has nothing to
replace
them with.
Spring Prediction:The
net will go with dramas on Monday (possibly even "Philly"), Wednesday
will
be shaken up (with possibly "Dharma" returning to its former night),
and
"Alias" will be looking for a new home. How about Tuesday at 10pm?
