Top Series:    3    CSI
                       4    Everybody Loves Raymond
                       7    Survivor III
                     10   Becker
                     11   JAG
                     13   60 Minutes
                     15   Judging Amy
                     18   King Of Queens
                     20   Yes, Dear
                     22   The Guardian

What Went Right:The fact that it's top 10 series all land within the top 22 total is a good indication. Giving the best performance of any network, it's Monday night line-up is second only to NBC Thursday in the sitcom-ratings aspect- and it's still growing. "The Guardian" filled in the Tuesday at 9pm hole rather nicely, helping to lift "JAG" 23% over last season's numbers. "60 Minutes II" (34) pluuged a major whole on Wednesdays, and "CSI" on Thursdays is setting series records nearly every week, even if "Survivor" is down.

What Went Wrong:The weekend nights are the most serious problem, but the ratings the line-ups get are something ABC would die for. "The Ellen Show" (85), "That's Life" (77) and "48 Hours" (72) are dragging Fridays to historic low numbers. "Citizen Baines" (67) was a headache on Saturdays, while "The Education of Max Bickford" (37) is a Sunday nightmare, pulling down the movie (29). Oh, and let's not forget Wednesdays. At 9pm, "The Amazing Race" (60) didn't really take off, and 10pm entry "Wolf Lake" (89) will go down as one of the worst network dramas ever.

Cancellation Is Calling:The Education of Max Bickford

Can It Be beat?Probably not. It's got the most flexible line-up of any network, and is only weak on the week-ends, when all the other nets are also week. Things look good.

Spring Prediction: "The Ellen Show" will get moved to Thursdays at 8pm once "Survivor" is done (okay, so that one is really far out). "Family Law" will get replaced, and "Touched By An Angel" will move back to Sundays after a promising performance a few weeks ago.
