The Heroes encountered the Ice Dragon deep in a cavern beneath the mountains of Arnor. They found their way into the cave by accident, on their way back from the Gates of Hell, and were attacked by the Ice Dragon. After a long, grueling battle, in which Charystra was mortally wounded, Shurakai finally managed to slay the Dragon. Among the items they found in the dragon's hoard were the Fire Edge and the Bardic Staff, and it was there that they found Noria, who brought them into her quest, leading them through the portal to Lothlorien, where Charystra was healed and they stayed a year, preparing for Noria's quest.
