Brief Summary: Anakin Skywalker (Vader) lives with his mother Shmi Skywalker on the planet of Tatooine. There they work as slaves for the Toydarian junk dealer Watto. Anakin has no father, because Shmi was impregnated by midichlorians, the force makers. These tiny creatures live and dwell inside beings, and allow them, or give them the power to use the force.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, and his master Qui-Gon Jinn, land on Naboo.(Queen Amidala's residence) There they pick up Jar-Jar Binks, and travel through Naboo's core up onto the surface where they rescue Amidala from the clutches of the Trade Federation Viceroy. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon set out to find some place where she will be safe and can go into hiding. The pick the remote planet of Tatooine. Even though this planet is controlled by the Hutts who are gangsters her Royal Highness will not be recognized by the planet though because the planet is not under the control of the Trade Federation.
Their ship is damaged when blasting past the blockade around Naboo, and it is in need of repairs. Thus they land on Tatooine and enter the small city of Mos Espa looking for a mechanical store. They find Watto's shop a Todarian Junk Dealer. As they enter Watto's a small boy greets them.(Anakin) Instead of buying from Watto, Qui-Gon puts his trust in Anakin who says that he can race his podracer that he made in the Boonta Classic, under Qui-Gon's name. Anakin says that the winnings would "More than cover" the price of the parts they need. Qui-Gon knows that Anakin is Force strong and believes that he is the Chosen One. He then makes a bet with Watto and says that if the boy wins the race he will be free from slavery, and that if he loses Watto will keep him. Anakin naturally wins and is freed. The Jedi then fly the Queen to Coruscant. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan go to the Jedi Council about the boy. He is tested and passes but is not to be trained.
Meanwhile the Galactic Senate is busy discussing Naboo's problem with the Trade federation. Queen Amidala moves that a new Chancellor should be elected one with more power. Palpatine is nominated. The Queen then explains to him that she must return to her homeworld, because her people are suffering.
Once they are on Naboo they go straight to the Gungans to beg for their help in capturing the Viceroy. The Gungans have an army which acted as a diversion for the Queen to get into the palace. When Darth Maul shows up Obi-Wan, and Qui-Gon leave to fight him. It is now up to the Queen for the capture to succeed. Meanwhile Anakin and Artoo get into a Naboo fighter and are taken out to the Trade Federation Battleship where the "real" battle is taking place. He flies into the heart of the ship and destroys it without even knowing what he has done.
Qui-Gon is killed by Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan narowly escapes his own death, but kills the sith in the meantime. He rushes to Qui-Gon's side and promises to train the boy Anakin as his padawan learner in the ways of the Force.
The next day there is a celebration of the capture of the Viceroy and of the destruction of the Trade Federation Battleship. Qui-Gon is given a funeral and the epic ends!
