Nancy Sigmon Pruett
Well, I am finally back home with my Mommy!!! My brother and I were given to our Mommy for Christmas in 1940 by her Mommy and Daddy, Andy Nelson and Brookie Meadows Sigmon. My Mommy married Bob Pruett and he is now our Daddy.
I was in really bad shape and my Mommy and Daddy decided to send me to Gary Sawatzka who put Andy back together and did a good job.
Gary told my Mommy that he could fix me in three months so in March of 2007 my parents sent me to Mr. Sawatzka for him to fix me. In July she had heard nothing from him about me so she called him and he told her I was almost ready and he would ship me out the first of August. They heard nothing from him and called again in August and was told by Lousia Sawatzka that Gary had broke his ankle and couldn't work on dolls yet but someone was coming in to finish me for him. She said I could go home in September. September came and I still didn't get to go home to my Mommy. In July they had said my cry box was already installed. So, by Oct. My Mommy was getting upset and my Daddy was really mad.
My Mommy called them and said she had three more dolls to send them to repair but not till she got me back. Gary said again, that he just had to put my cry box in and he would ship me out. Well, the very next week my Mommy and Daddy got me in the mail. It had taken them over seven months to get me back and they believe several untruths were told. So, My Mommy does not feel bad about the lie she had to tell to get them to send me back.
I must say I do look better but my little hands are too small for my body but she can live with that. My hands had to be replaced because one was broken.
They now know of another place closer to home to have dolls repaired. It cost my Mommy two hundred and fifty dollars to get me fixed. Before, the postage was included in the price of the repair. Now, they are trying to get my Mommy to pay almost sixteen more dollars for mailing me back to her. This is unfair for when she had Andy repaired they said the postage was included in the repair price. My Mommy is on a fixed income and can't afford to keep paying for something she was told she had already paid for.
I am happy to be back home and my parents had a new dress and bonnet waiting for me along with a pair of white satin shoes. I now sit in my living room for everyone to admire when they come to visit. I must say I don't look sixty seven years old.
