A Stranger’s Death

I was out in the garage,
I was busy sorting and cleaning,
When my mom and sisters came home,
Their tears were streaming.
They said it had been an accident.
That he had been upset.
He hadn't been careful,
And he hadn't worn his helmet.
From deep inside came emotions,
That I didn't know I had.
For a stranger that I barely knew,
This man had been my dad.
I didn't get to know him,
Before he passed away.
Although I had just seen him,
Just the other day.
I have been told I'm like him,
But I will never know.
Although I feel him with me,
When the wind does blow.
