Discovery Optic (McLane) Variant |
||||||||||||||||||
|
There are several color variations of this fly developed by the late A.J. McClane for the Campbell River area in British Columbia, where he had great success with it. I took a few liberties with the materials. The wing for this fly is made from a synthetic material called Fish-Fuzz, the crimped nylon subbed with light green crystal flash. The light blue on top really is a light blue, but the color looks faded after being scanned. The head is made with a painted optic bead instead of built up tying thread. Other color variations of this fly will be coming. See Discovery Optic Variant 2 and Discovery Optic Variant 3.
