William's Photo Pages
I work in a little color minilab.
I started taking pictures when I was
six. Over the past 15 years I've learned a thing or two about
pictures... I'd like to share those things with more people than I see
at work every day.
NEW!
Some of these pages allow for comments to be added. Look
for an "add/view comments" at the bottom of the page to add your particular
piece of wisdom, or to see what someone other than myself has to say.
Please: per Angelfire rules, profanity, nudity, etc... aren't
allowed on my pages. For this reason, please don't put them in the comments.
My opinions, articles, and whatnot.
Some photography links.
- photo.net Philip Greenspun's photo.net. This is the place to go for a good big collection of photo information, images, technical reviews of equipment, etc. Please note that my goal is not to suppress this information; shucks, I think it's a good read. I just want to add my little part to the web.
- PhotoArt House's Web page My favorite local camera shop. Well, local to me anyway, here in Madison Wisconsin. Their web page isn't great, but don't hold it against them.
- Agfa Photo Agfa is Europe's largest film manufacturer. They're huge. IMHO: They make better stuff than Kodak. 95% of the time there is Agfa film in my camera, and 99% of the time it's developed with Agfa chemicals and printed on Agfa paper. Not that the other company's products aren't good, I just like Agfa.
- Nikon USA Nikon USA's website. Ignore everything about consumer cameras, APS, etc. I had no idea that they made spectacle frames.
- Santa Cruz High School Photography Resource Website This covers most of the basics, to disgusting levels of detail.
Detailed descriptions are a must, however... someone had to write them, and I didn't want to.
- The Massive B&W Developing Index In case, like me, you often
need to look up time, temperature, etc for a film/developer pair. For a non-frames version,
click
here.
- Photographer's Formulary These nice folks
supply photographers with the "unusual" raw chemicals to make your own developers,
bleaches, fixers, etc, as well as ready-made kits to prepare your own chemicals.
If you want to get into alternative photography (i.e. platinum, palladium, gold, etc
printing, making your own emulsions from scratch, exotic papers, etc), this is
the place to look for supplies.
I'd like to thank those nice folks at AngelFire for creating
a nice free web page environment. No garbage about virtual cities,
no selecting a neighborhood, etc. And most of all, I haven't had any
obnoxious email that's trying to change my basic social interaction
characteristics. They're being nice... offering free web hosting
in exchange for people seeing their ads. And I'm quite happy
to let that happen.
