Summer is currently battling from Long QT Syndrome, the same disease that
killed her mother a few years ago. Her condition is currently being
regulated by the use of beta blockers.
She is currently living with her father

and her brother
Boyd
in Number 32 Ramsay Street. Before this, she and Boyd lived with their
Grandma Rosie Hoyland while Max was working on an oil rig. He returned to
the street to be with her and Boyd in late 2002.
Summer has had many idols in the street since she moved in. Her first was
the late
Drew Kirk, and she spent weeks grieving
when he died. Secondly, there was
Stuart Parker, but that was short lived and
quickly faded out. More recently, her idol has been
Steph Scully.
Although attending Eden Junior School, education isn’t high on the Summer’s
agenda, and she has many tricks up her sleeve in order to wag for a day. Her
main trick is to faint, which is what her condition causes her to do, though
she has now learnt that this is dangerous as people won’t know when she has
really fainted and they may leave her when she is very ill. Her most recent
agenda has been the matching together of her father Max and neighbour Steph.
At first it seemed to be working, as Max asked Steph out on a date after
Susan and Karl's wedding. However, the date was a complete failure and there
wasn’t much progress after. Although Steph was temporarily occupied with
dating Alex Argenzio and a trip around Australia, Summer didn’t give up and
has now succeeded at getting the two of them together. Her next task is to
convince her brother Boyd that this relationship is just what their dad
needs.
Summer’s plan to get Steph and Max together finally worked, and she even
managed to persuade her father, along with Boyd’s help, that they wouldn’t
mind if Steph moved in. Although Steph did move in in the end, the result
was not quite what Summer had expected, as she found Steph agreeing to watch
Boyd’s favourite films and talk about mechanics rather than cooking. The
arrival of her aunt Izzy
though has cheered her up most recently.
Summer was later devastated to learn that Steph had left her father Max for
no reason, and immediately went about blaming herself. However an accident
in Boyd’s actions caused her father to discover that Steph was suffering
from breast cancer, and Summer is now determined to help Steph recover.
With Summer growing older day by day (as with the majority of the
characters), she's recently got to the stage where she's become interested
in boys! But left to pursue a music scholarship. Returned in 2006 for her
holidays.
