==================================================
Izzy is the younger
sister of
Max
Hoyland and
aunt of
Boyd
and
Summer. Izzy suffered a neglected
childhood, after her mother
Rosie
sent her to boarding school, too frightened to see her, for the similarities
between her and her abusive father. As a result Izzy became very self
centred and has found that the only person she can rely on his herself.
Izzy was always very close to her brother’s late wife, Claire, who respected
her for who she was. When Claire died, Izzy was hurt just as much as the
rest of the family, and threw herself at men as a way of staying happy.
With the news that her brother had returned from the rigs and settled in
Erinsborough, Izzy too came to Ramsay Street to try and find the family that
she had once been a part of. However things were quite different from how
she expected them to be and Izzy soon found herself to be the second woman
in the house, to her brothers’ new partner
Steph. It took Izzy several weeks to accept
that
Max
had
moved on with his life, and accepted
Stephas one of the family. To start with
she tried to persuade her nephew
Boyd
away from the idea that Steph
was good for his father, but he soon caught on that it was Izzy who was
afraid. Over time, Izzy has come to accept
Steph, though she still finds it hard to
get on with her.
Soon after arriving in Erinsborough, Izzy set sight on the Coffee Shop and
realised that if she was too prove herself to her family, she was to get
herself a piece of the business, which is what she did. With some gentle
persuasion,
Max
finally gave her a loan with which to buy a 10% share of the Coffee Shop,
enabling her to prove to everyone that she was going to finally settle down.
Izzy has helped to bring new life to the Coffee Shop with her new style of
serving, though conflicts have also occurred between herself and
Harold’s
grand-daughter Sky,
who believes that Izzy is a man-hunter.
Sky even
accused Izzy of having and affair with
Dr Karl Kennedy, but the accusation was
eventually resolved.
That’s not to say that Izzy has lost her touch with the men, as she was
perfectly able to wrap young
Jack Scully around her little finger, and
have him at his beck and call.
Jack wasn’t keen on the no-stings attached
idea, but he was unable to find the courage to stand up to Izzy, for fear of
being dumped. To
Max’s
horror, Izzy has begun to advise her niece
Summer over ways of getting men to do what
she wants them to do. |
