Tunes I'm so behind at the moment, I'm staring up me own... Gigs? Well, Godspeed You Black Emperor! were out Hackney way, which is as convenient as a toilet with no flush. GYBE were pretty good, the crowd were pretty noisy and the venue was pretty inappropriate. Only got see a glimpse of Fridge at the Scala due to illness of my guest. Spiritualized at the Brixton Academy was noisy and full of silly little students smoking weed. Top notch of recent times would have to be the High Llamas and Marc Ribot as part of the Royal Festival Hall Beach Boys' influenced series. Coming soon Yo La Tengo and Sigur Ros at the Barbican Only Connect series, plus Low at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, Jan Gabarek at RFH and Pat Metheny at the Royal Albert Hall. Discs? Future Pilot AKA's Tiny Waves, Mighty Seas got pride of place on 7 April. Whilst making compilation CDs, plenty of Beatles, Motown, Monkees, Elvis Costello, Frank Sinatra and Ibrahim Ferrer got played in the House. |
