Tutorial One: Covert Ops PPG

But it had no character. i didn't really care, as i was quite happy with my "Mars Custom Issue" ppg that i had painted.

pic 1 well, let's look at the basic black ppg. notice that no detail is readily apparent from any distance. while excellent for real covert operations, it doesn't make for an interesting prop. the first step i take in painting any weapon is to ptime it black. I find that this helps reinforce the illusion of "mass" in the final piece.

pic 2 then i like to do a light drybrush of silver, just to pick out the details. remember that a quick wash or two of black will erase the silver easily enough if you don't like it, as long as you keep it Light!

pic 3 the next step was to lay the base color down. i decided that for this "covert ops Piece, i would try a camoflauge design. i started with a mixture of silver and green. i was not thrilled with the results, no matter what mixture i tried, it came out this emerald mettalic green, that was strangely transparent when i filmed it (it was really much more vivid than it shows on film. it looked like something a centauri pimp would carry)
