John Kelly, road manager for the band:
"I remember the Evansville gig (for which we were never paid). Vern, Rob, and I rode down there from the north side of Chicago in the back of a U-haul truck, drinking in the lushness of southern Indiana in reverse, The gig was the Indiana Pop Festival (remember those) and it was sparsely attended which is why we got stiffed. We were competing against a NASCAR event or something like it. The motels and hotels were sold out for 40 miles around unbeknownst to me. We wound up at a bed and breakfast 1969 style which means just this side of the Black Hole of Calcutta. Ah, those were the days."
