- Auckland Zoos recent success with their lion pride has meant that they need to
find homes for some of their seven cubs. Now new homes have been found. The three
female cubs of Shuka have recently arrived at Wellington Zoo
where they will
begin their own pride someday. Sometime in the near future, three of four cubs will
be winging their way to Taronga to join that zoos elderly three. The fourth cub, ,
will be staying at Auckland to produce the next generation of lions at the zoo.
- Melbourne zoos young male tiger, Ramalon,
will soon be introduced to two good
looking females. The zoo is providing a home to the two sumatran tigers from a private zoo in
Indonesia. The Medan Zoo has five sumatran tigers but cannot afford the upkeep of such ravenous
animals. Melbourne Zoo has been looking for a female to pair with Ramalon and the
two females will provide much needed unrelated genes to the Australasian Sumatran Tiger
Breeding Program.
