Perths Zoos original rhino was the male Memphis.
- In October 1999 the zoo received two female rhinos
- Perth Zoo was elated when they confirmed that Sabie was indeed pregnant.
The birth is due in December 2002.
Sabie gave birth to a healthy female calf in late December 2002. Precautions taken by staff were not needed as the birth progressed smoothly and mother and daughter bonded well. In early January 2003 the couple were seen on exhibit for the first time.
June 2005, Sabie has once again given birth, this time to a young male who weighed in at 76kg.
