Las Vegas Trip Fall 2000
Boulder Highway Gas station in Las Vegas
All these pictures of mountains were taken in Utah on their main highway. Miles and miles of breath taking mountains of rock. Layers upon layers of mineral deposits. If the pictures were clearer you could see the various layers. Muli-colored and beautiful.
These mountains are in Nevada. Middle and right one were on top of the Hoover Dam as we drove.
More from the top of Hoover Dam
These are views of the Petrified Forest in Arizona. The one on the far right is what they call their natural tree bridge. That is a tree that has fallen many years ago over a small gorge and forms a 'bridge' to cross the gorge. You would need to cross it very carefully!
This give you and idea of the great expanse of this forest preserve. The last picture above on the right is showing a close up view of a piece of the petrified wood. More of these to follow.
These are pictures of the wood as it comes to the earths surface. The Petrified Forest Preserve road was approximately 30 miles long. This land did have a road through it which we traveled on but nothing else. It's an area that the Arizona government intends to leave as is.
