yui hongou is the best friend of miaka yuuki, fushigi yuugi's main heroine. as h=this is my site,and this page all abut my opinion, i will not hesitate to say that i think she is the better among the two of them. yui is the smarter, more clever, and when it comes down to it, the prettier miko ^^;;
background yui discovered the book Shin Jin Ten Chi Sho with her best friend Miaka. they were both transported inside the book but after a short while, Yui was sent back because she was not the correct girl. she read along the book during the start of the series, and she helped miaka along the way. when miaka was sent back to the real world though, yui was called upon to become the seiryuu no miko. while in the book world, she was led to believe that she was raped and that the only person who really cared about her was nakago. nakago also made her believe that miaka did not really care for her, as miaka was too wrapped up with her tamahome. yui, being the emotional girl she was, was stricken and did everything she could to destroy miaka.

yui-chan, as a girl is very simple. she is a very good friend, despite the fact that she did everything to bring miaka and the suzaku down during the most part in the series. but remember, before that, while she was still in the library, reading the book Shin Jin Ten Chi Sho, she did everything she can to bring miaka back. i have this weird feeling, that before the whole suzaku vs. seiryuu fiasco, in the real world, it was yui who took care of miaka and at rimes got her out of trouble. see, miaka's the sort of girl who always gets into trouble...after all, she was the one snooping around the library and then found the book ^^;;
being a very intelligent girl, she tends to seem arrogant, confdent of her smarts.nevertheless, she has very strong emotions, strong enough to cloud her judgement. and speaking of judgement, she also tends to make stubborn decisions. it's not really easy for her to accept when she's wrong.
priestess
she was persuaded by nakago to become the seiryuu no miko. being vulnerable, and having believed that no one cared for her except nakago, she easily succumbed and agreed to become the supposedly villanous priestess. but yui-sama is not a bitch. she is still a very caring person, like i mentioned aboved. wasn't she the one who comforted suboshi when amiboshi died?
yui also has her reasons for accepting the task of being the seiryuu no miko. when miaka came for her at kutou, she was all ready to go with her best friend. but then se over heard miaka [being the stupid girl miaka is, sorry to her fans] telling tamahome that the only reason she really came back was him. now, tell me, if you were yui, and you felt all alone, and you were made to believe that you were, umm, violated, and then you hear your best friendtelling the guy you have a crush on that he was the reason she came back to book world and not you, what the hell would you think? of course she turned to nakago!!!
yui was a lonely girl, in need for love. itjust so happens that when she thought no one will be able to give any to her, she grew spiteful. she needed an outlet, you see, to bring out all the collected ager seething inside her, and it just so happened that she chose miaka, whom she thought would be always there for her. miaka, who disappointed her. [that's ok,miaka's a lovesick, pathetic girl anyway ^^;; i'm really hoping no one flames me for this. i respect miaka fans, so please respect me, being the yui fan that i am] this does not make yui a bitch, it makes her a normal person, for all people have their own insecurities.
