Release
date: April 1, 2001
General:
Digimon World 2 takes on more of a RPG rather
than the monster raising of it's predecesor,
Digimon World. Improvements to the game include
analog control, more detailed graphics, such as
really cool FMV(Movies, the beginning Movie is
awesome) It also comes equipped with a completely
new battle system. Conflict is now party-based,
as you control the actions of up to 3 of your
digimon at once. You can also look forward to
over 100 new digimon, as well as the ability to
DNA Digivolve two digimon together to form
ultimately larger and potentially cooler
organisms. Fans of the anime will likely enjoy
this game, and it also should appeal to standard
RPG fans and kids who enjoy capturing wayward
pets.
Gameplay:
The main role you play in Digimon World 2 is
protecting Digital City. You start out with your
last training mission to get your Tamers licence.
After you finish your last Training Mission you
can join a Guard Team to help protect Digital
City. You start out with a different digimon
depending on what Gaurd Team you join.
Blue Falcon- Data type Digimon, Patamon
Black Sword- Virus Digimon, DemiDevimon
Gold Hawk- Vaccine Digimon, Agumon
You are given missions to enter Domains(dungeons)
with your Digi-Beetle to battle the wild digimon
and make your way to the top floor, where the
Boss digimon resides, and defeat him. While in
domains, you can fight wild digimon and befriend
them to join your team with gifts such as CD
Players, Digivices, Card Games, etc. You can
upgrade your Digi-Beetle to have more HP to
withstand booby traps such as Land Mines and
Electro-Spores. You can also buy better batteries
so your Digi-Beetle can move longer distances,
better RAM so you can bring more Digimon with you
on your quest, and better item boxes so you can
bring more items with you into the domains. The
new feature is to DNA Digivolve Digimon. But
instead of getting a larger and stronger digimon
it goes down to a lesser form BUT the new
form has the potential to grow into a better form
than the "parents" and ultimately
digivolve to it's Mega Form. I have played both
games and I think Digimon World 2 is a lot better
than Digimon World, because you can have up to 3
digimon on your team, capture digimon, and your
digimon do not die.
