George married July 7, 1897, in Marion County, Illinois, (vol E pg 57) Olive W Wham who was born on November 19, 1867, (or 19 Nov 1871) in Foxville, Marion County, Illinois to Robert and ? Wham and who died May 4, 1953. She is buried in the Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Perry County, Illinois. Was she a sister to Eldora Wham who married George's brother, John Lincoln Pyatt? We do not find a marriage record for John and Eldora - were they married in Marion County as well?
Here is an account of the wedding celebration of George and Olive from the DuQoin Tribune of Friday, July 23, 1897:
A recent issue of the Salem Democrat contains the following notice of Mr. Geo. PYATT, of Four Mile, mention of whose marriage was made in our columns last week: Wednesday, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert WHAM, near Foxville, was celebrated the marriage of their youngest daughter, Miss Olive, to Geo. PYATT, of Perry county. miss WHAM is a cultured and accomplished young lady, one of Marion county's best teachers, and held in high esteem by her many friends and acquaintances. Mr. PYATT is an energetic and prosperous young farmer. At high noon, the impressive ceremony having been performed by Rev. J. S. MARTIN, all repaired to the spacious dining room, where an elegant repast was partaken of. The happy couple were the recipients of many nice presents. A number of friends and relatives were present; those from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. John PYATT and son Raymond; Misses Nettie and Mary PYATT, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. PYATT, Mr. Frank PYATT, Mr. and Mrs. Porter BAIRD and daughter Florence, all of Pyatt, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. William JACKSON and daughter Mary and son Pyatt, of Du Quoin...Mr. and Mrs. PYATT will reside at Pyatt. May their blissful union be crowned with laurels of happiness.
The Pyatt's that attended the wedding were: George's brother, John, and his son, Raymond; George's brother, James, and his son Frank; George's sister, Francis, and her husband and daughter; George's sister, Anna Adeline, and her husband and two children. I believe that 'Misses Nettie and Mary' were George's unmarried sisters, Jeannette and Mary C.
The known children of George and Olive were as follows:
This family enumerated #175/176 pg 130 (ancestry.com image 19/29). Living in the same neighborhood were George's siblings, Frances Pyatt Baird, Robert I Pyatt, James M Pyatt and John L Pyatt. Was Lucian the child who was born and died by the 1900 census or is there another child before Lucian that we have no information for? Is that child buried in Galum Cemetery like the child born in 1911? Is the headstone not sufficiently marked to indicate whose child it is? Does anyone have Galum Cemetery inscriptions?
When I have abstracted this family on the 1910 and 1920 census, I'm sure we will find more information on the children born to them. If anyone can add to this line - please let me know.
