Isreal J and Mary Craig Pyatt

Isreal (Izri/Izra) J Pyatt was born in February 15, 1829, in Illinois (probably Perry or Kendall County) to Samuel Pyatt and Mary Phelps and died September 8, 1883, in Perry County, Illinois at age '54y 6m 23d'. He is buried as 'Izri Pyatt' in the Old Southwest section of Galum Presbyterian Cemetery in Perry County, Illinois. He married on December 26, 1850, in Perry County, Illinois, Mary J Craig who was born December 5, 1830, in Perry County, Illinois and died February 7, 1878, at age '47yr 2m 2dy' in Perry County, Illinois. She is also buried in the Galum Cemetery with Isreal as 'Mary J Pyatt / Wife of Izri'.

These three single siblings were in the same household. Also living nearby was their brother, Milburn Pyeatt. Soon after the census, Izra J Pyatt marries Mary J Craig on December 26, 1850.

By the 1860 census of Perry County, Illinois, they were as follows:

This family was enumerated #1545/1545 10th July 1860 pg 216 (ancestry image 218/246). At #1528 was his brother, Milburn Pyatt; at #1529 his brother, Ebenezer Pyatt; and at #1530 their father, Samuel Pyatt. Izra and Mary had already lost one son, William, before this census was taken - he died at the age of 4 about a year before Anna was born.

By the 1870 census of Pickneyville, Perry County, Illinois, the family as follows:

This family was enumerated #7/7 2 Aug 1870 pg 242 T6R3 (ancestry image 1/17) handwritten pg 1 top left page. Their neighbors were #1 Robert ?Cadis, #2 Harmon Coleman, #3 Saml Woodsides, #4 John Hepp, #5 Louis Winecott, #6 Sebastine Eplin, #8 Robert Baird, #9 ?Centine ?Begeta, and #10 James ?Mipen. Were the Abernathy's related to the Pyatts? Could Fannie be Mary's neice? Or, were they a family in need of a place to stay? I find a marriage record for Emanuel Abernathy and Fannie Smith July 19, 1868 (B/1/17) Perry County, Illinois.

On the 1880 census of Pickneyville, Perry County, Illinois, Mary had died and the remaining family members were as follows:

This enumeration was viewed at familysearch.org; page 103D. The actual census entry might reveal a different interpretation. Also enumerated in Pickneyville were the families of Izri's brother, Ebenezer Pyatt and Izri's son, James Madison Pyatt. Izra's brother, John W Pyatt, was twice widowed and had no known children. He was the County Commissioner for Perry County.
