October ended up being a month of deaths. A close friend of Craig's lost his mom, David lost a cousin and I lost a good friend. I'm writing this now because my friend, Kim, died on Halloween.
She would have liked that, I think. Not just because it was Halloween but because it was the last day in October. You see, it was breast cancer that she had lived with and fought against for 9
years and October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. She was a warrior in her own right. She educated as many people as possible about breast cancer and was a truly inspirational person. Her spirit
was amazing, always looking at the bright side of life. She also spent years educating people about wolves. Wolves were her passion and no doubt if you were to Google Kim's Wolves or Kimtx you will find her.
We shared a love of the southwest and Indian ruins. She was fortunate enough to get to travel to many ruins after her cancer was initially diagnosed. She also loved her garden and bird feeders. I hear she had
eight feeding stations in her yard. Her wonderful family held a small memorial service in "Kim's Korner" of her yard for family and close friends and will have another memorial service, this one at Chaco Canyon in N.M.
in the future. That is exactly what she would have wanted. I will miss this woman more than I can say. Godspeed Kimmers.
