Record reviews

GFY - Any Last Words? --- We have been waiting for these guys to put out a CD for a while now and its finally here! First off GFY's record release show at castle heights was completely off the hook, second, this CD is awesome! GFY have a real heavy, raw, beatdown sound. singers Keith and Lou compliment each others vocal styles quite well on this recording. Download GFY's "Taste The Pain" now

Groundzero - Healing Leprocy --- This is definitely an interesting CD. The only complaint I have about it is that the recording could have been better. There is alot of noise and confusion at certain points, but I think thats a big part of their sound and it takes careful work to get that point across on a recording. Overall, this CD is awesome and has become a part of my everyday playlist. I especially like the cover of Don't Fear the Reaper. If you like fast metal and lots of screaming, this is a great CD for you.

Subterfuge - our own terms --- I have heard the name of this Long Island hardcore band many times before, but had never heard their sounds. I listened to this cd and it blew me away. The sound is fast, old school, punk, and full of energy! I am looking foward to getting to one of their shows. This stuff brings back memories and i think i'll keep listening to it..

36 Deadly Fists demo --- This band is very new and have already generated a great response from their shows. The record is great.. beatdown hardcore meets speed metal and the songs are arranged very well. I listed to this cd a few times and don't get bored of it. I definitely suggest this band for anyone who appreciates real New York Hardcore. download 36 Deadly Fists' "Visions" now

Krutch - I'll see you in hell --- In my opinion, this is Krutch's best release to date.. it has great sound quality, lots of songs, and the vocals and intrumentation is executed very well. At times it makes me want to break something, at other times it makes me smile. I definitely recomend this cd to anyone who likes any style of hardcore music.

Through The Discipline - vivid and unnatural destruction --- The recording sounds good.. if you like real deep brutal death vocals you will love this cd. If you like TTD live you will lve this cd. Metal/Hardcore mixture that will appeal fans of both..

NJ Bloodline - Faceless --- This cd sounds a bit different from their older stuff but definitely in a good way.. the music is catchy and definitely captures their true sound on the recording (the quality is amazing by the way). One thing that stands out on this CD is the vocals. The patterns and rythms of bloodlines vocals on this recording are outstanding. Overall there are no complaints about "faceless".. the packagaing and graphics are pretty cool too.

Tension* - Hope for the best...expect the worst --- The first thing i would like to say about this cd is that it doesn't move me the same way ast their older stuff. Their old seven inches were some of the best records out of Long Island back in the day. The cd overall is alright but it lacks the kind of progress one would expect from a band who has been playing for so long. I can't even remember the last time i saw them play live and didn't even know they were still playing. Sadistic records put out this cd and is soon putting out another Tension* cd.

Denied - 4 song cd --- Denied have been tearin up NYC for many years now and their latest recording which was also featured on the Step Up To The Plate Comp from Thornz Records, shows no signs of them slowing down.. They have a fairly new lineup and the progress this band has made in all aspects is amazing. The vocals and screams are put together great and the guitars are heavy as hell. I am looking foward for Denied to put out a full length cd and i'm sure most NYHC fans will appreciate what they are playing.
