Rainy in the morning, hot and cloudy for the rest of the day.
Today was hanami. It was great. Oh, I'm ahead of myself. Begin at the beginning.
I had a really hard time on Tuesday night falling asleep. I tossed and turned for a while and then I got up, wrote myself a note and then went back to bed.
Today at work I only had two classes, but they went well. I also sent in my letter of resignation. Sigh.
At 6 o'clock, I closed the school. I went over to the hundred yen shop to buy a few things, and then came back to the school. I had been watching people go by on the street in their yukatas and they looked so festive that I thought I'd give mine a shot after all. However, when I tried to put it on, I just couldn't do it. I was running late and that didn't help at all. In the end I just put it back in my bag and changed into the clothes I wore this morning!
I biked over to the river and found my seat. I was lucky and the guy at the door showed me directly to my seat. Wa hoo!
Fumihiko was late, the poor thing. He had to work and he got stuck in a traffic jam. I felt sorry for him. He missed about half an hour of the show.
The theme this year was "You Raise Me Up". That's a song by Josh Groban, so I was really looking forward to the finale. One of the highlights of the show was early on for me, Bolero. The music and fireworks were perfectly co-ordinated. Near the end I enjoyed Aqua's Cartoon Heroes, but the finale really was great. Josh's voice to fireworks. That was perfect.
We came home by bicycle. That took a while. We waited until most people left, then left the riverside. We couldn't bike for ages because of the crowds, but when we were free from people it was nice to let go and bike.
Later we went to the grocery store and picked up a few things. We came home and watched Without a Trace. It was good, and a bit sad. About boxing.
That's it for me for today. Have a good one! Night.
