Torrential rain and thunderstorms in the am, clear in the afternoon.
Fumihiko's alarm went off at 7:30 this morning. Despite it being his day off, he was already up and in the living room. I wasn't too happy about the alarm going off as I had requested twice the night before that he turn it off. I stayed in bed and he left somewhere after 9 am to go to his workplace. I wasn't really awake, but I wasn't really asleep. My alarm went off around then, and just after there was a huge clap of thunder, so I woke up fast. I looked out the window and it was raining cats and dogs and a few other animals too! In fact, I got up and sat on the couch for a while.I was too nervous to turn on my computer and too nervous to take a shower. I waited until the storm died down a bit before I checked email and did the shower thing! (Of course I didn't do both at the same time!)
After my nice breakfast, I went off to the school, by bicycle. It was still raining quite hard, but greatly reduced from when I woke up. I got to the school, opened it up and got ready for my first class. Both of my classes went quite well today. I was glad because in the second one especially I had to teach a concept from another textbook first, or the students would have been lost.
After classes I tidied the classroom and then I left to go home. Fumihiko arrived about 45 minutes after I did. He was tired, but he'd had a productive day. He'd gone to the goodbye ceremony, then to a couple of furniture shops, and also to a hotspring.
We rested for a bit, then decided to go out for dinner. I don't know exactly why but we both thought of the same place in Mikawa. However, it was closed for Obon. Oh no! We went to the yakiniku restaurant in the mall instead. We had a nice meal, but it was a bit expensive.
Since we didn't really have any plans, and I'd just found out that Fumihiko has the NEXT TWO DAYS OFF (why didn't he tell me before???) I suggested going to see Superman Returns. It was playing as a sneak preview at the theatre. We went and looked at the time, but Fumihiko realized that he was really tired so we decided to pass this week. I wanted to go shopping and miracle of miracles, Fumihiko wanted to go off and get a drink. So, we made plans to meet up in about 25 minutes. I went to see the ladies clothing and looked at quite a few things. I took three things over to the changing room and tried them on. The first one, I loved the material, but the top part was very fitted and wouldn't button properly on me. The arms were also too tight. The second one was a tunic-y Indian print cotton, green with creamy flowers. It fitted really well, maybe being just a touch too big. The last one was an interesting colour, sort of a plum or eggplant. It was a sleeveless shirt/dress with a slightly contrasting colour tank top underneath. It fitted fine, but for me the lack of sleeves was a real problem. I'd never wear it. I put them all back on the rack and waited for hubby. When he came over, I showed him the shirt that I liked. I had tried on the green one, but they also had it in black. Both were in my size, and I liked both of them. I asked hubby for an opinion and this is where it gets weird folks....he gave me one! He said,"well, you already have a lot of black shirts, so maybe you should get the other one." That was exactly what I had been thinking too, so I did. I bought the green one. Or, more exactly, he bought me the green one. I didn't expect him to, but it was a nice thing to do.
We had some coffee at Seattle's Best Coffee and then headed off home. At home we watched a Moulin Rouge, the Baz Luhrman film. I'd been looking forward to seeing it as I loved Strictly Ballroom. I enjoyed Moulin Rouge, but it will never become such a favourite for me as Strictly Ballroom is. Maybe my expectations were too high? I did like the music and what they did with it, so I might watch it again by myself sometime.
And that pretty much was my day. I wasn't expecting to have a good day, but I did. Hurray. I hope the next two days are okay as well. Wish me luck.
Night.
