Hot and a bit muggy.
A good day. Fumihiko was supposed to wake me up this morning, but he didn't. I wanted to make my garlic toast before I left for the party. I did, but we ended up leaving later than we should have. We got to the beach where the party was in full swing. Lots of people that I didn't know were there, but also a few that I did. A couple of my ex-students were there, and also Gabrielle, Fumihiko's ex-teacher and my friend. We had a great time chatting. Fumihiko even went swimming. I didn't because I'd put a sticky plaster on my ankle before we left and I didn't want it to get wet. I wore tons of sunscreen, re-applied it twice and wore a long sleeved shirt and a big floppy hat. I don't think I got sunburnt really, except my shoulders do feel a little scratchy.
After a couple of hours of really brutal heat, I asked Fumihiko to go. I was sorry because I know he was having a good time, and so was I, but I was worried about too much sun for me. We came home and had a bit of a snuggle.
In the evening after some major computer time, we went to Jiro for dinner. It was very busy. I think we got the last table and I felt really sorry for the waitress. She was hopping. Tonight we had mixed gri-eh. It's basically their version of a mixed grill. It's good.
We bought a few groceries afterwards then came home. I turned on the telly and discovered that the original Superman was on. It has been a while since I watched it last, so we watched it. I realized that Christopher Reeve really was Superman. The version I saw yesterday was good, but he was so good. There was one scene in Superman tonight, where "Clark" is about to tell Lois that he is Superman. She's out of the room at the time and his whole body just transforms. He stands a little taller and straighter, he becomes Superman in Clark's clothes. Then, he changes his mind and in an instant, becomes Clark again, without even speaking. Brilliant. There was chemistry between Lois and Superman too. But, you know, the "problem" or the letdown in both of the movies, Superman and Superman Returns was Lex Luther. It's too bad they didn't have Lex as well written or acted as he was in Smallville by Michael Rosenbaum. Doesn't it make sense that the villian would be intelligent and well spoken? If he wasn't, he wouldn't be much of a challenge for Superman. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Enough about the movies!
And that was my day. Fumihiko's finally gone off to bed and I'll likely go soon. I'm tired too.
Catch you later!
