Cloudy and sunny too. Very warm day.
Today turned out much differently than I expected, but it was fine. I got up at 8 am to check email and news. I found the BBC News, which I watched, then checked about the US news on line. Why did I only think to do it today? It would come on after 9. I felt really tired though, so decided to tape it and take a longer snooze. While I was lying in bed I got a text from my husband that he was taking the afternoon off. He's worked a bit of overtime lately and was taking time off instead of overtime pay.
I had an okay morning. I showered, did some laundry, made the bed, and of course watched my precious news! Yay. I feel a little connected now. By chance, I ran across the start of a movie that I wanted to watch anyway, so that was rather nice. It was called PS and starred Laura Linney (who btw has the exact same birthday as me if her IMDb profile is to be believed) and Topher Grace. It was well done, although I didn't quite get the point afterwards.
Fumihiko came home at the end of the movie and relaxed for a while. He was working on my travel health insurance stuff. It's very complicated. The brochures that we got on the weekend said that they would only cover trips bought from that travel company. Not what I want. He's trying an on-line place, but having problems as our family names aren't the same. Sigh.
We went out for lunch around 3 pm. It was only Gusto, but it was okay. After, Fumihiko drove me to my school. That was a treat. I got him to look at a wasp nest that is in the bike shed at my school's parking lot. He said that it wasn't a wasp nest, it was a bee nest and the inhabitants wouldn't go after anyone. I was relieved to be honest.
At school, I got ready for my classes. They were fine today. In my second class, I gave the students each 10 1 yen coins and each time I heard them saying something in Japanese, I took one away. One student didn't give up any, but the other one had to give me 4 coins. Really they did quite well. One of them did ask the other the translation of a Japanese word, but that was within the rules, so I had no beef with that. I've found that it's an interesting way to call attention to student's usage of Japanese in class. It also can be good as a way to make students really listen to each other, as they can take coins away from each other! Usually though, at the end of the class, the students give the coins back. Tonight...they kept them!
Fumihiko came to get me after I finished up tonight and we had dinner at M's Dining. I had the beef fajitas again. They're quite good, if you get over how messy they are.
We came home and had a quiet evening. We watched Monk which was good for a change. Monk was blinded in an attack and became less obsessive. I find that his obsessions don't always make a lot of sense, so I was glad for him.
I made a pot of strawberry tea and we had some of that. Fumihiko spent ages on his computer trying to get the insurance thing to work, but didn't have any luck. Even their email address didn't work. Honestly then, I'm not sure how much confidence I'd have in their product!
So, that was it. Quite nice day really. Tomorrow I do have to work for a change. I have an evening class and then I'm going to come home and cook dinner. It's about time. I've been meaning to do it, we just haven't gone to the supermarket at the right time.
Anyway, that's it for me. Night night!
