"It isn't fear"

It isn't fear
that leads me here
But hope
that I can see
With eyes anew
the good and true
that which I seek
which is in you
and not be led
by eden's tree

"Colors"
The color of love
The color of anger
The color of passion
The color of murder

It's only a color
--the rest we conger, tis true
Still,
I prefer blue.

Untitled
lying here
on a moonless night
illumined by love
filled inside

far lost in love
to what is here
you're all I know
you're with me here

so walk with me
love of my night
day and ever
far out of sight

my hand will not loosen
my vision is clear
what you have given me I treasure
and hold with care

I know full well
what time will show
I see your eyes
I know your soul

let me walk with you
through tides of times
I give to you
my heart and soul
everything I am
as heaven we leave
for brighter climes

Untitled
If daily I'm not working
To make the world a better place
Then my existence here
Is wasted space.

The fire that burns
take me in your arms
just for a little while
until I breathe again
Until I learn to smile

Let me show my fears
And love me just the same
wipe away my tears
let me know no shame

I'll rise when the sun is down
I'll polish my tarnished crown
and I'll stand on the wings of your love
yes I'll carry on with your love

Let me hold you in my arms
When your troubles come around
Let me quiet all your fears
let me put them in the ground

I'll be a strength when others fail
I'll lift you always with a smile
And I'll give you all that I can
I'll give you all that I can

and we'll rise when the sun is down
We'll shine that golden crown
and we'll stand on the wings of love
we'll stand on the wings of love

and times might try my might
and show a faded light
but I know the fire that burns
a flame that knows no end

Thank you
bewitched by an angel
who loves me even though
I have troubles left and right
More than you can know

a lighthouse, a life vest
no metaphor will do
the love you give to me
keeps me pushing on and through

thank you my love
long ago you made your stand
you walked with me in darkness
you held me by the hand

even though I've dropped it
and picked it up again
your heart has stayed the same
which is more than I can say

and from this moment on
no thing will move me from
the love I give to you
but most of all, thank you.

Redolent
love, thick
drips from my
eyes
as I think
of you
love

thank You
your kisses I feel
e'en as I kneel
to pray
and say
to Him
the One
thank you
for what you've done
such a love
apart from Yours
never have I known

and though I wander
and slip
thank you for catching me
and the love
that's always shone

to be
I have never run
from anyone
but they have run
from me
--but that's okay
you see

because until now
a lasting love
was never meant
to be.

craving you
it's not good...
how much I am craving you
in so many ways and lovely days
flower walks and meadow talks
and every lovely thing
we do.

love anew
dawm breaks o'er the oceans
a cradled light comes into view
sunshine soars to all horizons
so radiates love anew

untitled
I think I'll drink you through a straw
a heart of gold begins to thaw
as an honest love, pure--enduring
tilled with love and tended with care
finds the warmth of sun, always shining
and grows a garden always giving.

The Lark
quietly nestled
the lark, her feathers
softly preens
knowing that though
cloudy skies
seem to daunt her flight
always the sun is shining
though it be cloudy,
day or night

your shoes
in your shoes
I try
to lace
my mind

but the path
these feet walk
know not
the road they find

in your shoes
I trace
a life I thought I knew
but those days
have walked away
in your shoes

untitled
instruments
He gave me
to do those things
I can

no limits
He bade me
as I eyed my mark
and ran

others ask me
how it's done
though each
can reach their ideal

As we stand for Right
for Goodness fight
and leave the false things
for the Real

tonight
sleepy
so sleepy
her eyes fall in the night

they fall and fall
and fall far out of sight

but alas my love I'll catch you
if not in your dreams tonight

when you awake
you'll find me here
when darkness
fades to light

Snowflakes
The days of life
are as a blizzard
blowing by

each snowflake
a chance
to find grandeur

We can bundle up
to weather the storm

But I prefer to catch them
one by one

and let them slowly melt
on my tongue

Reflections
a crumbling church
an exquisite cathedral
mirrored by a skyscraping
symmetry
that rises abnormally high

a little girl in
her fountainwading world
ponders the simplicity of a waterbubble
while I ponder overintricately
the meaning of all things

an artist sketches
the lines of a face
draw, draw, erase

as a universe, beautiful
infinitely complex
yet as a flower

flows on, unending
as I ponder a churchsteeple
mirrored in a tower

This Day
[written for my wife on our wedding day]
This day
Is the most special day
My heart has ever known

Filled to the brim
With love and joy
A glass now overflown

A gift was given
To you and I
From our Father up above

Up and down
And all around
He wraps us in His love

What a joy it is
To spend my days
With your goodness by my side

Your smiles and piles
Of wonderful
In my hand and heart abide

But my love, this day
So magical
Is no more special than the rest

For every day
We live and play
Is the most special, perfect, blessed.

The west and the east
How far is the west
from east?
not best
nor least
but concerns above these

for you see
I remember
a bird that flew east
to nest, to grow
to fly to the moon!

but the west grew too far
and I cried like a loon!

for my friend had gone
to water stray flowers
she tended them well
and they grew in her
showers of love and blessings

but it's her that I'm
missing and so I send my
thoughts, love and care
and pray they find you
happily there

and over these mountains
pastures and waters blue
flutters around a little
bird too

who sings with joy
these little tunes
for that time one day
that rivals the best

when closes that gap
and the east meets the west.

Evening Light
Here
Where the land is flat
The light is pure
Even as dark descends

The last wisps
Of the sun’s far reach
Kiss the new grass blades
And fence encrusted tumbleweeds
Just the same

Light has no preference
And dark, no substance
For all life
Is the presence
Or absence
Of light.

Does it chose to shine upon you?
When cloud or earth obscures
The sun burns just as true
E’en the darkest night
A dawn assures

Blue
Blue
My love—my true
Most of life
Immersed in you

For what is water
Burned hotter
To red?

Uninhabitable instead.

And green
The sheen of all things new
Is crisp and fresh
A forest’s hue

But in the fall
When plants are changing
Colors and vibrancy
Rearranging

Look to the sky
Or down to dew
There lives my love
Unchanging blue

Early Morning Light
Early morning light
on the water
Sparkling

each one different
Alive! Twinkling!

like the eyes of lovers
ever entwined

Speaks a thousand
creations
of an infinite Mind

Day by Day
Day by day
we go our way
but do we stop to see?

The moments that
comprise our lives
that bless
Continually...

The life we live
is busied
and cluttered
by distractions
far and wide

But the life spent living
rejoicing, giving
is a life
well satisfied.

A Mystery
You still enjoy being a mystery.
How many times I tried to solve it
over chai tea resolve it
in moped firefly fields somewhere
He dissolved it.

It, but a slice of a dream
in the key of chocolate fudge flavored ice cream,
now the eye of a storm long passed, still
blue sky breaks through unasked.
