WCW Greed Results
For: Sunday 18th March 2001
The show started with a vignette,
in which Diamond Dallas Page gave his comments on
Scott Steiner, saying that tonight, instead of
being the hunted, he will be the hunter.
Pyro hit and the "first ever
WCW Greed PPV," as the announcers called it,
was underway. Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson
were our announcers and they didn't sound shocked
about WCW's current status at all. In fact, they
were in their regular happy-go-lucky moods. Tony
announced that we would be treated to a bonus
match tonight.
Match #1: Kwee Wee vs. Jason Jett
Kwee Wee's theme hit, and out he came. Jason
Jett, formerly ECW's EZ Money, entered next and
our opening match was underway. Both men began to
battle on the outside to start things off, and
both hit a few impressive moves. When they
returned to the ring, Jason Jett locked on an
innovative backwards Boston Crab type move.
However, Kwee wee regained control and threw Jett
to the outside by his ponytail. Kwee Wee followed
Jett to the outside, and flipped Jett up, but he
bounced off the ropes off a 180, then hit Kwee
Wee with a great DDT on his way down. Schiavone
and Hudson praised Jett for the entire match. In
the ring, Jett hit the "Afterburner" on
Kwee Wee, then hit a backflip standing moonsault.
However, Kwee Wee once again regained control of
the match and tossed Jett to the outside and
began to choke him with the cables at ringside.
Kwee Wee picked up Jett and tossed him into the
safety railing on the outside several times. Kwee
Wee looked irate. Kwee Wee hit Jett with a Lou
Thesz Press and went for the cover, but only
received a two count. Kwee Wee lost it and began
to slam Jett's face into the ring mat repeatedly.
The crowd began to chant "Kwee Wee Sucks,"
making Kwee Wee even more angry. Tony Schiavone
mentioned that during the PPV's pregame show, Ric
Flair made DDP and Scott Steiner's match a falls
count anywhere match. Kwee Wee picked up Jett and
placed him on the top rope, then went for a
superplex, but Jett fought back and went for a
top rope powerbomb. However, on the way down,
Kwee Wee reversed the powerbomb into a
hurricanrana! (ECW! ECW!) After a few seconds,
both men got up, and Kwee Wee regained control.
Kwee Wee signalled for his Piledriver finisher,
but Jett hit Kwee Wee with a low blow. Off an
Irish Whip, Jason Jett hit a great springboard
elbow on Kwee Wee, which got the crowd going.
Jett went for his finisher, the Crash Landing,
but Kwee Wee reversed and hit a sunset flip, but
only received a two count. Kwee Wee went for the
Piledriver, but Jett reversed. However, Kwee Wee
hit Jett with a Northern Lights, but only receved
a two count. Great action. Jason Jett knocked
Kwee Wee to the outside, then told the crowd to
be quiet for some reason, then fell to the mat
and played possum. Kwee Wee re-entered the ring
and went to the top rope, but missed an elbow
drop. Jett rose to his feet, kicked Kwee Wee in
the gut, and hit his finisher, the Crash Landing
(Vertical suplex, then just dropped him). Jett
went for the pin and picked up the win!
Winner: Jason Jett
Match #2: Elix Skipper & Kid
Romeo vs. Kidman & Rey Jr. - CW Tag Titles
This match is the final match in WCW's
Cruiserweight Tag Title Tournament. Elix Skipper
made his entrance first and did an impressive
backflip off the top ropes to the ring during his
entrance. Kid Romeo's theme hit next, and out he
came. The Filthy Animals' theme hit, and out came
Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman. The bell rang
and the match was underway. Kidman and Kid Romeo
started things off. Kidman quickly gained control
with a hurricanrana, but was nailed with a great
powerbomb like move by Kid Romeo. Elix Skipper
was tagged in, and he picked up Romeo and dropped
him on Kidman in a doubleteam move. Off an Irish
Whip, Kidman hit Skipper with a Hurricanrana.
Kidman placed Elix Skipper on the middle ropes,
then tagged in Rey Jr, who hit Skipper with a
springboard guillotine leg drop. Rey Jr. hit
Skipper with a headscissors takedown, followed by
a hurricanrana to the outside. Kidman then nailed
Elix Skipper with a baseball slide kick on the
outside. Kid Romeo ran down the aisle and nailed
Kidman. All four men began to battle on the
outside near the aisle. Elix Skipper and Kid
Romeo were knocked off the aisle to the lower
floor. Kidman and Rey Jr ran near the
entranceway, then ran and jumped off the stage to
the floor onto Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo. Back
in the ring, Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo regained
the advantage over Kidman, but Kidman quickly
regained control. However, Kid Romeo hit Kidman
with a bulldog and the heels took back the
advantage. Kid Romeo hit a sitout front suplex on
Kidman, but only got a two count after an
arrogant cover. Elix Skipper picked up Kidman and
placed him on the top rope, but Kidman nailed him
and dropped Skipper with a sitout powerbomb. Rey
Jr and Romeo were both tagged in, but Rey hit a
springboard crossbody followed by a Tornado DDT
on Romeo. Elix Skipper charged at Rey Jr in the
corner, but only received a shoulder full of
ringpost. Rey Jr hit a somersault flip on Romeo
in the ring, then quickly rose to his feet and
dived through the ropes onto Skipper on the
outside. Suddenly, Kidman hit a shooting star
press off the top rope to the outside on Skipper
and Romeo! In the ring, Rey Jr rose to the top
rope, but Elix Skipper knocked him down. Skipper
climbed the turnbuckles and both men began
battling on the corner. Rey Jr, however, hit a
sunset flip powerbomb on Elix Skipper. Kidman
entered and hit a reverse suplex on Romeo, but
Prime Time broke the cover. Primetime grabbed Rey
Jr and hit a Tiger Suplex! Kid Romeo climbed the
top rope and hit Rey Jr with a leg drop. Kidman
entered, knocked Skipper to the outside, grabbed
Romeo, and hit him with a bulldog off the top
turnbuckle. All four men began to battle in the
ring. Rey Jr called for the Bronco Buster and hit
it on Prime Time. Kidman and Prime Time knocked
each other to the outside, leaving Rey and Romeo
in the ring. Rey Mysterio Jr attempted a
Lionsault, but was caught by Kid Romeo and
dropped with Romeo's finisher called "The
Last Kiss," an "Emerald Fusion"
type move. Romeo went for the pin and picked up
the victory! Kid Romeo and Elix Skipper are the
first ever WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions.
Winners: Kid Romeo & Elix Skipper
Segment: The Magnificent Seven's
Locker Room
Backstage, Buff Bagwell had a camera man with
him, and brought him into the Magnificent Seven's
locker room. Ric Flair shilled for his team
tonight, saying that they would win their matches
easily. Ric Flair was in the locker room with
only Jarrett and Animal. Bagwell asked where
Steiner was, and Animal said that Steiner was out
looking for who attacked Midajah and who attacked
Animal from behind. Bagwell asked where everyone
else was, and Jarrett said that they were all in
separate locker rooms. Bagwell said that they
were the Magnificent Seven, and he'd go get the
rest of the guys now.
Match #3: Shawn Stasiak vs. Bam
Bam Bigelow
Stacy "Ms. Hancock" Kiebler entered the
ring first with a microphone in hand and her old
Miss Hancock outfit. Stacy: "First of all,
I'd like to say that the next time I come out
here, I would like a bigger ovation from you
people. But now, it's my pleasure to introduce to
you, for the first time, the Shawn & Stacy
Show! And I would like to introduce to you the
star of the show, he's the one who rocks my
world, the Mecca of Manhood, Shawn 'The Star'
Stasiak!" New music hit for Shawn Stasiak,
and out came "The Mecca of Manhood." He
grabbed a microphone in the ring as the crowd
chanted "You suck!" Stasiak: "Shut
up, listen, and learn! You know, it's not easy
being the mecca of manhood. I'm a top wrestling
superstar. I've got agents knocking at my door
and I truly an the star of the Shawn & Stacy
Show. But I always have time for you, my little
bald headed, fat, disgusting, toothless, Bam Bam
Bigelow wannabe losers! And I brought some
pictures of myself for each and everyone of you
hogs sitting here tonight! As usual, the pleasure
was yours, and that concludes your brush of
greatness for tonight." Stacy grabbed a few
photos of Stasiak and they were tossed around
into the crowd. Bam Bam Bigelow's theme hit, and
out came the Beast from the East. Stasiak and
Stacy quickly ran out of the ring. Bigelow ran
in, grabbed a photo of Stasiak, and tore it up.
The bell rang and the match was underway. Bigelow
quickly clotheslined Stasiak and knocked him to
the outside, where he attempted to regroup with
help from Stacy. When Stasiak finally returned to
the ring, he was hit with several right hands by
Bigelow, followed by a back body drop, a
clothesline, and a dropkick. Stasiak was once
again knocked on the outside and tried calling
for timeout, but Bigelow chased him. However,
Stacy distracted Bigelow, which allowed Stasiak
to hit him with a jawbreaker and push him into
the steel steps. Back in the ring, Stasiak hit
Bigelow with a top rope crossbody block and
continued to pound away at Bigelow. Stasiak
taunted Bigelow, whiping the sweat from his
forehead in an arrogant manner. However, Bigelow
hit Stasiak with a low blow, followed by a top
rope diving headbutt. Bigelow signalled for the
Greetings from Asbury Park, but Stacy climbed the
apron, let down her hair, and distracted the
referee. She handed Stasiak something behind the
ref's back, and Stasiak sprayed something into
Bigelow's eyes. Stasiak hit Bigelow with a
neckbreaker, and picked up the 1-2-3. After the
match, Shawn Stasiak and Stacy celebrated in the
ring, as officials tended to Bigelow on the
outside.
Winner: Shawn Stasiak
Backstage, the Cat was shown
talking to Miss Jones. The Cat said that he was
going to take care of Kanyon tonight for what he
did to Ms. Jones, but he needed Ms. Jones to stay
safe and stay out of the way.
Backstage, Elix Skipper was shown
celebrating his Cruiserweight Tag Title win.
Skipper: "That's right, baby! This is my
belt! I built this belt!" Kid Romeo ran in
and said that this was both of their belts.
Skipper put Romeo's belt on Romeo, and Romeo put
Skipper's belt on Skipper. They both hugged each
other, but backed off and patted each other on
the back.
Match #4: Team Canada vs. Hugh
Morrus & Konnan
Lance Storm and Mike Awesome entered the ring
first and Lance Storm began to speak: "If I
can be serious for a minute... Tonight, we get
personal and then we move on to business. Hugh
Morrus and Konnan have been in our face too long
and tonight we put an end tonight. And when we're
done with them, we're moving on to the World Tag
Team champions. Show Team Canada respect and rise
for the playing of our Canadian National Anthem...
I said rise and play the Canadian National Anthem!...
(silence)... Now there's obviously some no talent
American in the back who doesn't know how to use
the play button. I've been doing this for eight
months! Now play the Canadian National Anthem!"
Instead, Hugh Morrus's theme hit and out came
"The Laughing Man." Konnan's theme hit
next and K-Dogg entered the ring. Lance Storm
started things off with Hugh Morrus, but Konnan
was eventually tagged in. Mike Awesome was also
tagged in, nailed Konnan with a clothesline, and
Team Canada took control of the match. Lance
Storm was tagged in and Team Canada doubleteamed
Konnan in their corner. Team Canada continued to
work on Konnan for several minutes, isolating him
from his partner Hugh Morrus. Mike Awesome hit a
top rope flying forearm, but only received a two
count. This match was extremely slow paced. Lance
Storm entered and locked on a sleeperhold on
Konnan. Hugh Morrus made the tag finally, but
Mike Awesome was distracting the referee, who
ended up sending Hugh Morrus back to his corner.
Mike Awesome hit Konnan with a Piledriver and
once again tagged in Lance Storm. Storm went to
the top rope and jumped down, but was hit with a
big boot by Konnan. Konnan rolled over and made
the tag to Hugh Morrus, who ran in and cleaned
house on Team Canada. However, out of nowhere,
Lance Storm hit Hugh Morrus with a standing
sidekick, knocking him out. Awesome climbed to
the top rope and hit Morrus with an Awesome
Splash. However, the pin was broken up by Konnan.
Hugh Morrus hit Storm with a German Suplex, then
went for the No Laughing Matter Suplex, but
Awesome got up, picked up Hugh Morrus and hit him
with a Running Awesome Bomb for the victory.
Winners: Team Canada
Backstage in the Rhodes locker
room, Dustin and Dusty Rhodes were shown talking
about their match later tonight. Dustin asked
Dusty if he was ready to make Flair and Jarrett
kiss his ass. Dusty said that he was more than
ready. Suddenly, someone came in with a cartfull
of something. Dusty said that he had 240 burritos
in there, and he was going to make Jarrett and
Flair feel his wrath tonight when they kiss his
ass.
Backstage, Buff Bagwell continued
his "documentary." He brought the
camera man into Rick Steiner's locker room.
Bagwell asked Rick Steiner what he would do to
Booker T tonight. Steiner said that he was going
to beat him badly. Bagwell asked Rick Steiner
about the Scott Steiner/Midajah situation, but
Rick said that he thinks Scott will eventually
cool down.
Backstage, the WCW Tag Team
Champs, Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire commented
on their match tonight with Buff Bagwell and Lex
Luger. Palumbo: "Tonight, the games are over.
We need to find out who the toughest tag team is.
We need to find out who should be holding these
titles. They say that only the strongest survive.
Well, you're looking at the two survivors right
here." O'Haire: "Chuck and I would die
defending the tag team belts. And that's what Lex
& Buff will have to do tonight. They'll have
to kill us. And if they can beat us, more power
too them. But if we're still breathing, we're
still the champions."
Match #5: Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs.
Shane Helms - Cruiserweight Title
Shane Helms entered first along with his snazzy
Nitro Girl entrance. Helms had new tights instead
of his usual baggy pants. Chavo Guerrero entered
next and the match was underway. The match
started with several quick, great moves. Shane
Helms went for the Nightmare on Helms Street
early on, but Chavo reversed and hit Shane with a
T-Bone Suplex. Chavo then locked on a modified
STF on Shane Helms, followed by a leg grapevine
rear chinlock, and some sort of leg lock.
However, Shane regained control, grabbing Chavo
with a headlock, but Chavo hit him with a belly
to back suplex. Shane Helms went for a powerbomb
off a reversal, but Chavo reversed it himself and
hit Shane with a DDT. Chavo set up Helms in the
corner, then dropkicked him in the face. Chavo
grabbed Helms and hit him with a pumphandle
suplex. Chavo went for the Brainbuster, but Shane
Helms reversed. However, Chavo regained control
and tossed Helms to the outside, then dropkicked
him in the face. Chavo went to the top rope and
hit a flying crossbody down on Helms. Back in the
ring, Shane Helms grabbed Chavo and dropped him
face first on his knee, then hit Chavo with a
swinging neckbreaker. Shane Helms looked very
fatigued. He nailed Chavo with a standing
sidekick, but only received a two count. Off a
reversla, Chavo picked up Helms and hit him with
a reverse sit out suplex. Chavo attempted the
Tornado DDT, but Helms reversed. Suddenly, Shane
Helms hit the Nightmare on Helms Street out of
nowhere, but Chavo got his foot on the rope to
break the count. Whoa, is that "boring"
chant I hear? Never thought I'd hear that in a
cruiserweight match. Helms hit a crossbody block
on Chavo on the outside, then brought him into
the ring and hit another crossbody block off the
top rope. Helms climbed the ropes again, but
Chavo knocked him down. Chavo set up Shane on the
turnbuckle and tried to hit him with a back
suplex, but Helms knocked him down. Suddenly,
Chavo attempted to hit Shane with the
Vertibreaker, but Shane Helms reversed and he hit
the Vertibreaker for the victory!
Winner: Shane Helms - New WCW Cruiserweight
Champion
