Beginning level: 3rd. Chose one hit die to be your maximum starting hit points, and roll normally for the other level(s).

Races: All races from the 3rd ed Player's Handbook are as normal.

Teiflings, aasimar, and genasi are Character Level +1. Use the stats from the Monster Manuals and the rules from the DMG to modify creatures to player races.

Githzerai and githyanki are Character Level +2. Use the stats from the Psionics Handbook and the DMG.

For those who wish to try out a Planewalker's Handbook tiefling converted into 3rd edition (without the Character Level +1 business), take a look at this text file...
Variable Tiefling charts

Factions: Factions are now Prestige Classes. See new rules for details.

Example: Player's can have a tiefling Athar paladin. They would have the tiefling template as one Character Level, one level in the Athar Prestige Class, and one level in paladin.

A githzerai Fated would have no character levels in any normal class. He would have the githzerai template (which counts are 2 Character Levels) and then one level in the Fated Prestige Class.

Background:

Players willing to write up a background, especially one with Faction, alignment, and personal information, will be awarded 1 point to allocate to any statistic.

Episode Write-Ups:

Players willing to write a session summary, ESPECIALLY with particular attention to alignment and Faction influence (or godly influence), will receive a temporary benefit for the next session.

For example, a write up may:

1) lift the divine spell failure restriction for the next session.

2) grant a free reroll.

3) grant max damage to one roll.

4) a free Rank in any one (allowable) skill.

Negotiations with the DM encouraged.

Note: Episodes 0 to 13 are now closed from this offer.

Planar/Prime: I'm ignoring this rule for the moment. I don't think it's too important. You can't banish a creature on it's home plane, however, but at least no PC is going to be summoned as a Outsider creature.

Money: You only get the standard beginning money as per the Player's Handbook. You do not get extra cash as per the DMG for higher level characters.

Arcane/Druidic Magic & Psionics: Please note that magic is effected by the environment the characters are in. If you are in the Plane of Mount Celestia, don't expect magic that summons undead to work well.

All spellcasters, except for clerics, follow the standard Planescape rules for spell alterations. Druids and rangers are included in this category. Even though they are divine spellcasters, their magic comes from the environment they are in, and are effected by what plane they are on. Besides, druids would suck if I followed the rules below for clerics.

All psionics are effected by the Planescape rules for spell alterations. For those of you who will contest that psionics and magic aren't the same, I will agree with you. However, the Planes aren't about magic, they are about differing realities. Also, it's for game balance.

Divine Magic: I'm not using the level loss rules, but a spell failure variant, using the Domains of the cleric.

As of Episode 4, I lifted this rule restriction, for the sake of playability. Instead, I ruled that divine spells are effected just like arcane spells.
