In 1982 Dragon Ball was created by Akira Toriyama, Very talented artist at the time in Japan. The Manga was based off the Chinese folk and starting a young boy named Goku. With the success of Dragon Ball they made it into a cartoon and was first aired in 1984. The show lasted until Goku grew into a young man and the start of Dragon Ball Z. 

Dragon Ball Z first air in 1985 and was also created by Akira Toriyama. This was now dealing with a new concepts. About Goku and Friends become almost earth guardians protecting it from the scum that might danger it. This also Lasted a very long time with over 200 episodes in it. And at the ending of Dragon Ball Z was also the end of Akira Toriyama Creation Dragon Ball and from there was a new artist.
