In 1920, he worked as a "sawyer" in a wood mill. His debate team became nationally known when they beat the Salem, MA, team, 1925-1926. In 1926, he became the head accountant and cashier at the Oregon State Mental Hospital in Salem, OR. His address was 965 Shipping St., Salem, OR. Orlando died at his desk at the state hospital, age 59.

Olonzo met Clara "Merle" Grace in Mitchell, SD. He left there in 1913 and went to Great Falls, Montana, where he worked in the Ideal Laundry with his brother-in-law (George Dabler). Merle joined him and were married. While there, they did quite a bit of hunting and fishing. Sometime during the early twenties, they bought the laundry in Dayton, WA, where he put in a cleaning plant to supplement the laundry. His wife did the bookkeeping for the business. Olonzo belonged to the Kiwanis Club. He and friends would play tournement lawn croquet.
The late 40's, he sold the business in Dayton and went into a partnership with an old friend in Pasco, Washington, for a couple of years. They moved to Renton, WA, in 1951 where they bought Tony's Cleaners. Merle continued to do the paperwork.
After his wife's death in 1955, he sold the business, but remained in Renton, until he remarried in 1960. They moved to Kent, WA, where he died.
Olonzo married (1) Clara Merle GRACE "Merle", daughter of James A. GRACE and Ida Louise KIDDER, on 25 Feb 1917 in Great Falls, , MT. Merle was born on 25 Feb 1895 in Mitchell, Davidson, SD. She died on 15 Mar 1955 in Renton, King, WA.

His mother, Leona (Ferguson) Horning, told Leon when he was an adult that he was originally named "Tisna" Horning. He had it legally changed.
Leon was a farmer and carpenter until his retirement. In later years, he and his wife Nova lived in Lincoln, NE, then Omaha, NE. In 1960, they moved to Phoenix, AZ, and lived with their son Lowell and his family. As hobbies, he enjoyed paint by number, carpentry projects, and did beautiful leather etching. Leon had had several heart attacks since his 40's. He died suddenly of a heart attack, age 73.
Leon married Nova Gertrude GRIFFITH [image], daughter of Abraham Lincoln GRIFFITH and Ora Jane BEALS, on 12 Aug 1919 in College Springs, Page, IA. Nova was born on 29 Dec 1898 in Coin, Page, IA. She died on 1 Sep 1987 in Payson, Gila, AZ and was buried in Greenwood Memorial Park, Phoenix, AZ.
