He went by the name of Bill. After being in the service in W.W. II, mainly in Africa for three years, he worked for the Greyhound Bus Lines in Denver, CO. He moved back to Clarinda, IA.

Paul Wendell HORNING [image] (Isaac Leon HORNING , Isaac HORNING , Jacob HORNING , Johann Anton , Johann Georg , Anthonius , Johann Georg , Franz , Peter , Henrich ) was born on 17 Mar 1922 in College Springs, Page, IA. He died on 11 Sep 1986 in Payson, Gila, AZ and was buried in Mt. Meadows Memorial Park, Payson, AZ. Paul served in the military U.S. Marines, W.W. II in Pacific campaign.

Paul graduated from College Springs High School May 16, 1940. As a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, he was a radarman serving in the Pacific during W.W. II. He was wounded at Okinawa when a Kamakazi plane hit the ship he was on. He was in a hospital on Guam for several months. After Japan surrendered, as he was an expert rifleman, Paul was ordered to leave the hospital, not fully recovered. He was a part of the troops who guarded the Emperor at his palace. He received the Purple Heart.

Paul was in the insurance business until retirement. He loved gardening, especially growing beautiful roses. He died suddenly of heart failure, age 64.

Paul married Donna Grace SPANGLER [image], daughter of James Robert SPANGLER and Audrey Grace BROYLES.

She died on 19 Jun 1998 in Clarinda, Page, IA and was buried in Clarinda Cem., Clarinda, IA.

Ruth was the wife of a farmer. She died in her home after fighting heart disease and cancer for many years, age 73.

Ruth married Dean LESHER [image], son of Ralph Joseph LESHER and Veda Myrtle HALFERTY.
