James Lance Bass (aka Lansten) was born on May 4th, 1979 in Laurel Mississippi. In 1989, Lance and his family moved to Clinton Mississippi (where they lived until Lance joined 'N Sync). He has one older sister named Stacy. Lance started singing in a chorus in seventh grade, which is when he fell in love with singing. In eighth grade, he auditioned for a spot in a group called the Mississippi Show Stoppers - a statewide group sponsored by the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum. He landed it, but with a voice like that, who could blame them for wanting him? =O) And for a few years after that, he was a member of a competition choir called Attache.
Lance has been dubbed the quietest and shyest of the group, but most of us know better, right? This guy can be pretty smooth when he wants to be. Anyway, he loves to play video games. His favorite movie is Mortal Kombat (SURPRISE, SURPRISE!). He's had his eye on a Toyota 4Runner (candy apple red maybe?) lately and I'm sure he'll get it soon enough.
When asked what type of music he listens to, Lance said, "As for influences, I like Garth Brooks. He's an incredible singer. I love his ballads and stuff. And then on the other end of the spectrum, I like Offspring." (Garth Brooks and Offspring? Who would've guessed?). He also loves Boyz II Men, as do the rest of the group. His favorite tv shows are Mad About You and Friends and his favorite actress is Jennifer Aniston.
Lance said that the best day of his life was when he was called in by the other guys to audition for them. He knew of JC and Justin because he used to watch MMC and he was totally surprised when they asked him to come down to Florida to audition. The other guys didn't regret it. In fact, the guys later said that as soon as Lance opened his mouth to sing for them, they knew that they had found their man!!!
Lance's new look for 1998 is to dye for! (hehehe) He dyed his hair PLATINUM blonde! He looks great! CLICK HERE I saw him up close and (of course) he took my breath away. But then in one of the pictures I took his hair looked a little green (yuck!).

Some 411 you might wanna know about Lance:

Lance used to live in a house with JC, Justin, and Chris.
Lance lives with his parents in Florida, only 1 mile away from the rest of the guys.

The other guys call him "Scoop" because when they ask him about their itinerary, he always knows what's up!

He loves the beach - he says that he can prove it - just look at his legs! The hairs are bleached blonde!

Lance loves to do adventurous stuff like rock climbing and skydiving (!!make sure you wear a helmet Lance!!).

Besides Garth Brooks, who is his biggest music influence along with Boyz II Men, he also likes rap!

He likes people (let's hope so!) but hates mushrooms (why Lance why?).

The best thing about being 1/5th of 'N Sync for Lance is being on stage and performing. He likes seeing all the people (fans) and watching their reactions to the music.

Lance has never been in love! (He's young.....he will soon enough.).

He wants to meet William Shakespeare (if only he was still alive!) because he thinks his (Shakespeare's) writing is great.

Lance absolutely loves French toast! If he had his way he'd eat it everyday. (Hey Lance, French toast is my breakfast specialty! Come on over for a few!).

Lance's ideal woman has to be someone who could take a joke and is fun to be with. Someone as adventurous as he is and is not afraid to do stuff like parasailing or skydiving. AND someone who's loving and cute.

Lance has the most unusual eyes. They're green but sometimes they look yellow.

Lance is the bass singer of 'N Sync (as if you didn't already know!).

Lance is very laid-back and cool because he doesn't care about anything - or so he says. =O)

He says that he hates his hair (how could he?!) because it's so thick. He also doesn't like to look at himself in the mirror so he only spends about 2 minutes getting ready. (I STRONGLY disagree! I think I speak for most of the fans when I say that Lance, you're gorgeous! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???).

He loves dating so he DOES put some sort of effort on his appearance!

JC says that Lance is the most romantic but Lance disagrees. He says that he's too laid-back to be romantic!

Lance dyed his hair PLATINUM for 1998! It looks really good!

WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE TYPE OF JEWELRY LANCE WEARS, HE REPLIES:
"Of course I wear the watch and the necklace from Lou. For real, we all are very proud of these, because Lou gave it to us for our first golden record. The ring on my left hand, I got from a girl, three years ago. My name is engraved in it. Everytime I wear it I remember my home. The ring on my left a fan gave to me. That was in Germany. That was sweet and some time before that I lost another ring. The bracelet looks like a necklace, but it isn't..I bought it in Mexico..it matched perfectly with my necklace."
