Isao Okawa1926-2001The Memory Will Always RemainSega.com reported the sad and devastating news about the death of Sega's father, Isao Okawa. He passed away on March 16 at 3:47pm in the Tokyo University Medical Hospital. Mr. Okawa was the major source of funds for Sega through their harder times. He was the president and chairmen and most recently Mr. Okawa donated $1.281 billion to Sega Entertainment Ltd., parent company of Sega, from his own account. I remember first learning of Mr. Okawa in Kent's The First Quarter and finding within myself a new found respect for Sega. It has always been true that Sega has been the greatest game company of all time alongside Nintendo. With games like Hang-On, Space Harrier, Altered Beast, Streets of Rage, Sonic, Nights, Panzer Dragoon to their latest masterpiece Shenmue, Sega will never fall from the heart of gamers. All videogame companies gave some but Sega gave all. Without the true inspirational leadership of Mr. Okawa we might have never lived the Sega dream. The full story can be read at www.sega.com. All of our love will always be with you Mr. Okawa and you will always be in my memories. Rest in peace.
