Wal-Mart? Sony-Mart!Let me tell you a story about honesty, tension, excitement and pleasure that might bring a tear to your eye. It was Wednesday, October 25 2000 and your Editor in Chief, Clay Withrow, arrived at Wal-Mart exactly 30 minutes till 11:00 am. I asked the clerk to put me in line as the first to receive my Playstation 2. I endured twelve hours of Toy Story 2 and countless white trash Wal-Mart goers who found it necessary to ask why a "game thingy" is so dared important. I told them to go f$#% their F%$%king sheep in their f@#%king trailer. Beyond this I also was drenched in rain half of the time due to a terrible storm we had around the time that I got out of class. Eventually my friends brought me a change of close which I switched into without leaving my spot in line. I relaxed once again and enjoyed another viewing of the incredible Toy Story 2. The day went by quite rapidly and before I knew it I was standing in front of 27 Playstation 2 boxes and I would be the first to purchase one. At exactly 12:01am I presented my credit card with trembling hands to the cashier and when the transaction had come to a close I was walking away with a PS2 at which time the entire store lit up with applause just for me. I stopped and look around to see people just like me clapping for a cause that only we could ever appreciate. I never knew what I had accomplished until that time. After that night I remembered what made video games so great in the first place, the excitement. I don't think any person that day could have felt the anticipation flowing threw my body.
Here is a list of the games that I purchased: Ridge Racer VSSXTimeSplittersTekken Tag Tournament |
