For the historically interested among you, here's a collection of news from days gone past: |

November 10th , 1999 We have a winner! Our first ever contest has come to a final conclusion, and the preciding Judge Dragon (not to be confused with Judge Jackson, mind you) has reached a verdict. His contribution is as follows:
Again, we have to say thanks to all who entered and to Steve in particular, of course. All contributions will be posted for everybody to see soon - we're fiddling with something very special, so you'll have to wait just a little longer ; ). As most of you will have noticed, Angelfire has started to put pop-up ads on *all* of our pages. : ( We'd like to ask you how serious a deal this is to you, our trusty visitors. We know that you'll find it annoying. But how bad is it? If you *really* think it's bad we have to consider moving the site. If you can live with it, we'll live with it too ; ) Please voice your opinion in the Tavern! November 1st , 1999 The contest is over! We have received quite a few entries, and they all seem very well thought out - so Dragon (who has offered to help out as a judge) will no doubt have a tough job deciding who is to run off with the "grand" prize ; ). We will of course announce the winner here as soon as one is found. Thanks to all of you for entering, we'll be sure to post all the entries at a later date. October 6th , 1999 Announcement: Free Erathia is proud to present the - Dare we say it? - most complete and comprehensive index of MM7's Weapons and Items. Bones has worked his magic with the game files, and extracted all the data you didn't know you needed. Check it out and leave your comments on this awesome piece of work in the Tavern. In other happy news, we've finally received a check from Chips and Bits. This means it's contest time!!! Details at the dedicated Contest page! Don't miss out! September 8th, 1999 We've got two great pieces of news for you today:
2) The Patch for MM7 is out! Read all about what's been changed in 3DO's readme text file, and then download the patch from our Files page. Have fun with your new and improved version! August 30th, 1999 Finally! We're ready to show you what we've been working on: The Help System! (Start here, here or here)
In other, unrelated, news, we've just heard from our vacationing Barkeep, and he says he's having a blast...although he is a bit worried about the reports of bar tabs running wild in his absence : ) August 24th, 1999 Time for another update! There are several reasons for this: First and foremost, we have been tweaking the pages quite heavily in the last weeks to accomodate the new, upcoming help system that we're designing. We can't say much yet - but it'll rock when it's done, that's for sure! : ) Also, there is a couple of new (well, relatively new ; )) MM7 reviews out there. First, there's the Quandary review. It's very positive, and ends with this curious remark:
However, I wouldn't recommend MM7 to everyone. If you played MM6 and didn't like it, or were lukewarm about it, go and torch your local software retailer. Some MM6 fans might also be disappointed in this sequel, because the steps it takes may not be enough for you. If they are, however, you'll find a great game here underneath the surface. Note: My roommate doesn't like RPGs, but this one hooked him so much that even though I stopped playing after the game ended, he continued on (you can do this) and is now wasting the countryside and having a lot of fun doing it. It seems building your own messageboard is very much in style these day - so much so that a couple of regular visitors around these parts have finally made their own hangouts. Swing by Random Chaos Central and Jack's MM7 Board. Beware though, the atmosphere can get *very* relaxed! ; ) On a final note we've just passed 90,000 hits! Wow! Our sincerest thanks to all of our faithful visitors! : ) August 13th, 1999 We would have loved to be able to fill you in on our lates updates...but alas, we're not there yet. We know it's much to ask, but please stay tuned, and have a complimentary beer at the Tavern. August 4th, 1999 We're still here, and still working on filling in the various "blanks" that (unfortunately) still litter this site. Stay tuned - much more to come! ; ) July 28th, 1999 Gamespot has posted an all-new MM7 Game guide. It's a quite interesting read, even though it has some inaccuracies here and there. Here's an example:
[found here] July 27th, 1999 Help needed! Inspired by doom twinkie's question in our Tavern, we've decided to give you, our dear visitors, the opportunity to submit your walkthrough to your favorite dungeon! E-mail us, and tell the world how to beat the best dungeon in MM7! In other news, we've re-added MrGrinch's MM7 Site to the Links page - we apologize for the accidental deletion. And while you're browsing our link-collection, you might notice that Flamestrike's MM7 Page has been given on of those much-desired banners. Why? Well, check out the site and you'll understand! ; ) Oh, and there's a new Basilisk's Glare-column at Computer Games Online. This time, it deals in an overall favorable way with our subject of choice (that's MM7, in case you missed it ; )). July 26th, 1999 Woohoo! Our Tavern is back up! Thanks, ITW! ; ) July 25th, 1999 Blah! Our Tavern is not working properly. It seems it won't accept new entries for some reason. We're hoping that ITW are looking into it, and apologize for the inconvenience. Today's good news is that there's a new Editorial up! It's written by The Blue Orc and contains invaluable advice on Party Creation, complementing our permanent section on the subject. It's an essential read. : ) Finally, the Technical FAQ has been updated, as well as the Game FAQ, where we've added a graphical representation of the Dwarven Barrow teleporters among other things. Thanks to visitor "the wizard" (who has been so kind as to send us a bunch of other stuff, which we're processing at the moment). July 21st, 1999 A handful of new fan sites has been added to the Links page. Check out Trent's MM7 Page, Hawkins' Mini-FAQ, Franks MM7 Page (alledgedly a.k.a. the Official German Fanpage) and Taki's MM7 Page. And there's a couple of new reviews up. These are nowhere near as comprehensive as some of the ones we've brought to your attention earlier, but you might want to check them out anyway: There's one at Antagonist Games Network and one at Happy Puppy. Lastly we have worked on our World Map, so that you should now be able to click the region you wish to see in greater detail. July 20th, 1999 Oops! Seems we accidently deleted Arabin's excellent Original Arcomage Tavern from our Links page. It should be corrected now. Another new super cool site you've got to see is Neil's MM7 Applet (which of course also has been added to the Links page). This little java thingy takes a while to load, but is definitely worth the wait. Check it out! This just in! According to the respected e-zine Adrenaline Vault, 3DO will be releasing two so-called Millenium game bundles, one including HoMM, HoMM2 and the HoMM2 expansion pack, and one including the MM games Clouds of Xeen, Dark Side of Xeen and Swords of Xeen, as well as both MM6 and MM7. Read he full story here. July 18th, 1999 The Quests page has been updated. It's not done yet, but we're getting closer ; ) Also, the map of Emerald Island has been updated to reflect the pedestals we missed the first time round. And even more new Links has been added! Check these out: Allanon's MM7 Guild, Faust's MM7 Compendium and Flamestrike's MM7 Page. All very fine sites - surf by and show your support! : ) July 13th, 1999 More new Links! MM7 fan sites just keep popping up all over the net. We've added Griffin's Rest and MrGrinch's MMVII Site. Go check them out! July 12th, 1999 Today's short news roundup: There's a new review of MM7 over at Computer Games Online. It's a very fair deal giving the game a well-deserved 4 out of 5 star rating. Read the full piece here. And you might want to consider signing the Arcomage petition over at the new Original ArcoMage Tavern - which of course has been added to our Links page. July 10th, 1999 3 new Area Maps has been added: Tatalia, Evenmorn Islands and Barrow Downs. Also, we've corrected minor goofups on a couple of the other maps ; ). And we've put up a link to yet another MM7 fanpage. This time it's called "The Guide", and can be found right here. Our latest Editorial columnist, visitor Lord Ardyn, has sent word that he has worked up a MM7 desktop background. Go check it out here. July 7th, 1999 The Arcomage page is back! It has been updated with MMMcV's guide (thanks for letting us use it, BTW : )), and can normally be found as a section on the FAQs page. But the biggest (literally) news of today is that we have compiled a complete list of Monsters! We couldn't fit it in the ordinary tables of this site, which is why it'll open in a new browser window. Normally, you'll find it by going to the main Lists page. And we have a new Editorial up! This one's by visitor Lord Ardyn - Go read it and post your opinions on it in the Tavern! Also, the Skills, Potions, Quests, Party Creation, Sneaky Tips and Travel pages has been updated. Thanks again to all of our kind visitors who sends us corrections and additions : ) July 4th, 1999 The Area Maps section has been updated. It now holds maps of Erathia, Tularean Forest, Deyja and Bracada Desert. We'll be updating and adding more during the week. Oh, and there's a new quite thorough review at Games Weekly, awarding it a fair 8 out of 10. The Travel page has been updated. It seems we had missed Avlee's Ship schedule. It should be fixed now. Other than the traditional adding of a few more teachers to the Skills page, that's it for today ; ) July 2nd, 1999 Take a look at English MM7 distributor Ubisoft's "Create a Monster" competition! Come up with the best idea for a MM8 monster! Details on how to enter are found here. Stay tuned for major site updates during the next week : ) Back to Welcome page |
