Naperville, IL. Let me you tell you something about it. Located about 40 miles west of downtown Chicago, Naperville in many ways is a typical large city suburb. With a population around 140,000, an excellent school system, low crime rate, frequent trains to downtown Chicago, a quaint (sort of) downtown area, Ribfest, The Last Fling and easy access to the freeway system you would think that Naperville is a pretty good place to live - and it is.
It is also the dullest place I have ever had to live in! I'm note sure what it is and it's probably because we had such good neighbors and friends in North Olmsted before we moved that we were all biased but none of us really enjoy living here that much. Many people disagree and any Naperville residents reading this will be horrified that there is a resident who doesn't think it is paradise on earth so I am probably in the minority.
Why do we stay then? The kids are now in 9th and 7th grade at school and after moving from the UK in 1998 to North Olmsted and then to Naperville in 2000 it would just be too much disruption to move them again - although in my line of work you never say never I guess!
Here is a selection of photos from the last few years which will give you a flavor of the place
