ASF Tools

ASF Tools version 3.10 enables you to join, cut, repair, and re-encode ASF and WMV files. It will also allow you to convert them to AVI files and WAV files. Follow the instructions included in the zip file to install this program.

The scripting language is simple yet powerful, and complex filters can be created from basic operations to develop a sophisticated palette of useful and unique effects. It can be used with VirtualDubMod to open any AVS video file by automatically generating a suitable script by a selectable template. AVI to WAV

AVI to WAV extractor version 3.5 enables you to extract the sound from an AVI file and create a WAV RIFF file with its original parameters and format. It is able to preview the AVI file through integration with Windows Media Player and give you information about the file including the: video size, resolution & total number of frames and audio format, sampling frequency, number of channels & bit rate. It extracts a variety of audio formats including: PCM, DSP True Speech, GSM, MPEG-Layer 3, and more. DVD Codec

DVD MPEG-2 Codec will enable you to play DVDs through Windows 98 DVD player and play VOB files with Windows Media Player (WMP). These filters will work completely fine for all MPEG-2 videos using WMP version 6.4. They do not work well when viewing full sized DVDs or MPEG-2 videos (e.g. 704x480) but work fine with S-VCD (e.g. 480x480) with WMP version 7.1. DVSoft Codec

DVSoft codec version 1.11 is a codec from Adaptec that enables you to encode and decode video in the digital video (DV) format. Basically, DV has both raw video and audio data. AVI and QuickTime are different container formats, which can have combinations of video and audio (and mixed video/audio) streams. So if you had the same DV stored in an AVI and QuickTime, large chunks would be identical between the two files (the actual DV data), while the bits at the beginning and sprinkled around (headers, descriptors, and markers) would be different. DXManager

DXManager version1.10 allows you to add or remove video and audio codecs and plugins. Find out almost any piece of information related to a codec/plugin, from it's Class ID, to it's input and output pins, to it's filename and path, even it's properties page. Huffyuv Codec

Huffyuv version 2.1.1 is a very fast, lossless Win32 video codec that is highly recommended to use in tasks that are done prior encoding to a lossy formats, like DivX or VCD. "Lossless" means that the output from the decompressor is bit-for-bit identical with the original input to the compressor. It is fast enough to compress full-resolution CCIR 601 video (720 x 480 x 30fps) in real time. It is a must-have codec for video capturing, etc. because it offers excellent performance but requires a lot of free hard drive space. It is an excellent companion to video capture tools, such as VirtualDub and AVI_IO. Huffyuv also supports lossless compression of RGB data, so it can be used for the output of programs like VirtualDub. Follow the instructions included in the zip file to install this program.

MPEG-2 Codec

MPEG-2 Codec version 1.2.0.79 will allow you to open MPEG-2 files in TMPGEnc and in Windows Media Player plus a host of other programs. This bundle includes Stinkys' MPEG-2 Codec Installer version 1.02.0002. Follow the instructions included in the zip file to install this program.

MPEG2Cut

MPEG2Cut version 1.15 is a fast and easy MPEG-2 cutter based on DVD2AVI version 1.76 code. This modification includes sound output using WAVE OUT code for the first mpa track muliplexed in the stream. This bundle includes libmmd.dll and MPAlib.dll. Real Programs

Real Programs enable you to play and encode real media files (RA, RAM, RM, RMVB, RP, RPM, RT, RV). These types of media files became popular in the 1990's due to the slow speed of dial-up internet access and their ability to compress audio and video files. Unfortunately succesive generations of Real Networks programs began to take over your media player. The program versions that are hosted here are older but are far less intrusive that what Real Networks wants to give you today. They will not take over your media player like the current versions. Alternative programs are also hosted. This link will show you all of the Real Audio programs.

TINRA

TINRA (That Is Not Real Anymore) version 0.05 enables you to convert Real Media (RM) files to AVI files. This bundle includes Tinra GUI version 1.4 and Stabilizator version 1.2. Tinra GUI is a simple Graphical User Interface (GUI) for TINRA. It provides full batch support complete with the ability to save your work and resume at a later time. For users who prefer Explorer shell integration, it can create a "Convert to AVI" option on the context menu that appears when you right click on a RA, RAM or RM file. Stabilizator supplements TINRA by creating the true value of the time of each image so that full motion video is achieved. Follow the instructions included in the zip file to install this program.

TMPGEnc

TMPGEnc is a general purpose MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 encoder. It enables you to encode ASF, AVI, D2V, MOV, MPG, MPEG, and WMV files into VCD (MPEG1), SVCD (MPEG2), and DVD (MPEG2) compliant specifications. It can also cut and merge MPEG and MPG files. This link will show you all of the TMPGEnc programs.

VFAPI

VFAPI Reader Codec & Converter version 1.05E is an english translation of the latest version of the VFAPI Reader Codec. It enables you to convert DVD2AVI Project (D2V), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and M2P files to AVI files. This bundle includes VFAPIConvEN.exe and VFCodec.dll. VHSCapture

VH Screen Capture Driver version 1.4.0 is a DirectShow filter which emulates Video Capture card and captures screen activity. It enables you to capture screen content as a video and is highly compatible with DirectShow and capture software (such as VirtualDub) so the filter can be used with any DirectShow-based application as the capture source. When you select the "VH Screen Capture Driver" as your Video Capture card you are able to configure its properties via control panel. VirtualDub

VirtualDub is a linear editing solution for ANIM, AVI, AVS, BMP, DAT, GIF, JPG, JPEG, M1V, M2V, MKV, MPEG, MPG, MPV, OGM, PNG, TGA, VDR, and VOB files. It comes with internal video filters and is capable of importing third party filters. There have been several popular modifications including: VirtualDubAVS, VirtualDubMOD, VirtualDubMPEG2, and VirtualDubOGM that feature Matroska support, multiple audio stream support (AC3, DTS, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, SRT & WAV files), and improved AviSynth integration. WinDV

WinDV version 1.2.3 is a small utility for DV (FireWire digital video) input/output. It is for capturing videos (both type-1 and type-2) from a DV device (camcorder) into AVI-files and for recording AVI-files into DV device via FireWire (IEEE 1394) interface. Capturing is very reliable thanks to use of large buffer queue. Timestamps recorded on DV tape by camcorder can be used to automatically split captured video into multiple files. During transmitting to DV, several AVI-files can be joined together to form final video recording. It also features preview of transmitted video in the window. DirectShow "filters" are used for communication with DV devices, video-preview and for reading/writing AVI. Additional code handles memory buffering, timestamp decoding and simple user interface. XviD Codec

XviD Codec version 1.1.0 b2 (Build 6.04.2005) is a very popular codec these days and is used often. This builds can also play back various DivX encoded files so it's a good one to install first. Nic's XviD Codec features: I P Frame encoding, PMVFast and EPZS with diamond and square pattern motion estimation, inter4v mode, fullpixell and halfpixel precision, both MPEG4 and H263 quantizations, custom quant matrices, adaptive quantization, and luminance masking.
