Bata-kun no Uchi - News

The News section has news in the anime, manga, video game and manhwa world as well as subjects that relate to the topics I said like seiy. For the most part, I give out bits that do not relate to majority of people in North America because one, there are sites out there that do a better job than I do and two, those sites are easy to get to as well. Plus, I try to touch issues all over the world.

I know that I might spell names of some sites wrong or do some task like that. They're no signs of disrespect. If I were to edit them all right now, it'd be a hassle because I have listed a site for so much for a while.

In some news bits, the times said here are different from the sites I cited. That's because I did the math. In other words, to give an example, if I say that a show starts on a Thursday at 25:30, I am actually saying that the show starts on Friday at 1:30 in the morning. Unlike the United States and some other western countries (as far as I know), times for shows are shown as 25:30 in Japan. Of course, in some cases, I have tilted the time forward or backward to the nearest half-hour. So, make sure that you are at a place to see your gig a half-hour before it or around there.

As for quotes, sometimes, I will insert a random quote or two down below. In some cases, they're funny. In other cases, they're serious.

That's it! I'm off! Ja.

"'Densha Otoko'"

Old news, but last Thursday a manga version of popular love story "Densha Otoko" ("Train Man") was featured in Weekly Young Sunday magazine. Hara Hidenori will handle the adaptation. Based on a true story, "Densha Otoko" deals with a young man who rescues a woman from harassment at the hands of a drunk as they ride on a train. The protagonist, an otaku that doesn't know romance, turns to the Internet forum "2ch" for advice. (If you don't know, the site can be found here.) The manga adaptation will be featured in Weekly Young Sunday (Shogakukan) as well as Young Champion and Champion RED (Akita Shoten). As stated earlier, the Weekly Young Sunday publication began in the January 6 #6-7 double issue.

"Canan"

I'll probably watch this.

"Digimon X-Evolution"

I'd rather have this series die...again than let it continue.

"Monochhichi"

Wa~y too weird for me.

"Raimuiro"

Don't count on it.

"Starship Operators"

Eh. Not something I'd want to see badly.

"Negima"

The only reason I'm watching this is because of the amount of voice actors I recognize and not much else. Also, when was the last time Shiratori Yuri-san voiced in an anime? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer's "Love Hina" ironically.

"Jinki"

This is a "maybe" series.

"Xenosaga"

I actually have high hopes for this one, though I am not too fond of the designs. They should have used the ones from the first game.

"Air"

I guess Toei's had too much of "Kanon". Anyway, I will be watching this, but I know that a lot of story materials will not be mentioned.

"M: P"

Again, way too weird for me.

"A~! Megami-sama" series number 1,274

I will watch it, but I'll probably end up regreting it later on.

"Tenkomori"

Definitely passing on this one.

"Peach Girl"

Don't like her art personally, though I surprisingly like "Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai's" anime, as I never read the manga.

"Mafukiden: Pandarian"

Passing on this one also.

"Transformers -Galaxy Force-"

Maybe, if I feel up to it.

"Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shganai!!"

Looks way too bishnen/biseinen for me. Not surprising, since this is based on a naughty yaoi visual novel.

"Gallery Fake"

Not a series I'm highly interested in, but if I feel like it, I'll watch an episode or two.

"The Witch Village Story"

Another KS anime, another anime I'll be passing on.

"Ultimate Girls"

Highly doubt it.

"Mahoraba"

Seeing that this is a J.C. Staff series, I'll watch this.

"B Legend"

I'll be passing on this one as well.

"Damekko Doubutsu"

See "The Witch Village Story".

"Samurai Champloo" 2nd season

Sorry F. I will not be watching you again.

"Girls Bravo" 2nd season

Different station, same horrible scenario.

"Shinshaku Sengoku Eiy Densetsu: Sanada Jyushi"

I don't know. I'll wait until the date, though I'm more leaning towards passing on it.

"Iriya no Sora UFO no Natsu"

Seeing that I usually watch Toei anime, I will watch this.

"Buzzer Beater"

I know people in the Philippines will watch this, but come on. I don't see how it can be better than "Slam Dunk", even though I don't like watching sports series in general.

"Pretty Cure Max Heart"

I am giving "Futari wa Pretty Cure" a second chance, though I don't know if this will have what I saw in the first episode.

"Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan"

I'll watch it I guess.

"New 'Seikai' Series"

There's going to be a fourth "Seikai" series. Other than that, no other details have been mentioned.

"'Taisen Hot Gimmick Mix Party'" and Such - This is only for those 18 years old and older.

Later this month will be the release of "Taisen Hot Gimmick Mix Party". Here, you'll choose between the four games of the series and you have a multi-ending story mode as well as other new materials. "Oshioki Box" has been released for computers. It's also a compilation of the first four "THG" titles, but with additional images.

"'Ten Ten' Pinky Figures"

You can check out "Ten Ten" Pinky: St figures here. Keep in mind that they will not be out for another three months. The girls in the set are Aya, Maya and Emi. Additional images can found here and here.

"'Yotsuba to!' Coming to North America"

Old news, but "Yotsuba to!" has been picked up by ADV.

Source(s): Momotato Daioh

Momo placed the touch I needed. Oh well. All good matters come to an end. (Can you tell that I don't think highly of ADV like many people?)

"Media Factory Case"

Old news, but Animesuki just got a note from Media Factory that the site itself as well as others can no longer show series that are produced by them.

To me, this is both a good trait and a bad one.

1/1/05

"'To Heart 2' Out"

"To Heart II" is out. This is no joke. If you don't know, it came out the day before the previous Comiket last Tuesday.

Momo gave me the verification that Zepy went to Comiket 67 and he indeed found "To Heart II" there. So, rejoice people! Rejoice!

"2 New 'Neo Geo Battle Coliseum' Characters"

If you haven't checked out "NGBC's" site lately, 2 new characters have been added: Shiki and Mudman.

Source(s): Madman's Cafe

I hope Shiki doesn't look that anorexic here just like in her non-handheld 2D debut. --'

"'Suchie Pai': Revived"

According to Jiji, owner of Namako Team, "Suchie Pai", the legendary mahjong series from Jaleco, has been revived in the form of "Tenhou Pai Nyan". Released on the same day as "To Heart II" for the PS2, it is set in Meiji Tokyo rather than the present setting. Just like in the past, Sonoda Ken'ichi provided designs for the game and there are voice actors from the past as well. Sea's Splash and PCCW-offshoot MyHarvest made the game, GeneX published it, and Cyber Front did the distribution. 7,140 is the price of the regular edition and the Collector's edition, which includes a drama compact disc and music compact disc, is 9,240. Softbank Games also has sections on its site with wallpapers and videos.

Shame on you Nintendo for not bringing forth a game of this series on the GBA! Oh and Tamura Yukari-san's the new actress of the series! Yay!

"'Ichigo Mashimaro' Anime"

Old news, but Barasui's "Ichigo Mashimaro" will become an anime later this year. It will most likely air some time in the spring and there is no sign on whether or not it will be an OVA or television series. For now, you can look at the official site here.

"The Ugly Matters in Anime of 2004"

Just recently in Matthew's Anime Blog, there was a link posted in regards to a few ugly matters in anime. Those ugly matters dealt with the worst anime of the year and the anime that has the yashigani (a type of crab or in this case, the series that needs to be redeveloped) award according to a post on 2ch. It said that "Futakoi" and "Kakysei 2" were among those two series that battled for that worst anime title. As for the title that needs to be redone, "Tsukuyomi" as a whole doesn't really need to be redone per se, but the reason the series gets this award is only because of its twelfth episode. Unlike "Lost Universe" (the series that created this award after its forth episode: "Yashigani Hofuru"), it's highly doubtful that the twelfth episode of "Tsukuyomi" will be redone. (You can see "Lost Universe's case right here, with the original television broadcast images on the left side and the redone images for the home release on the right side.)
