I began watching The X-Files during the summer of 1998, since then I've become a very loyal fan. What drew me to the show was the stories. I've always been interested in all things paranormal. When I saw that there was a show about FBI agents investigating such things, I just had to watch. I do have to admit that I did miss seeing Fight The Future in theaters.
Most fans of The X-Files know of different parts of the fanbase: Noromo, Fencer, Slasher, and Shipper. Those are just the basics into many different and more complicated definitions of a X-Files fan. I am a MSR/DRR Noromo, DSR Supporter, Scunner, Doggett fan, Reyes fan, Krycek Fan, Marita Fan, EDR Supporter (Ed/Dana Relationship), FRR Supporter, Foxley, a believer that Scully will return to normal in Season 9 (meaning no more frickin' baby "plots" - boy was I wrong), has-been huge Mulder fan, Seasons 1-7 Mulder friendly, Diana supporter, Spender Defender, and I greatly miss The Syndicate. And I'm sure I could list that much better, I have before.
My favorite X-Files episodes of all time are "The Unnatural", "Invocation", "Paper Hearts", "Never Again", "Ice", "Musings of A Cigarette-Smoking Man", "Little Green Men", "Pusher", "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'", "Syzygy", "Tithonus", "Triangle", "SR 819", "The Pine Bluff Variant", "Closure", "Via Negativa", "Medusa", "The Sixth Extinction: Amor Fati", "En Ami", "Tunguska/Terma", "Invocation", "4-D", "Daemonicus", "4-D", "Release", "Audrey Pauley", "Hellbound", "Underneath" and many more.
I basically like all the episodes save for "all things", "Requiem", "Per Manum", "This Is Not Happening", "Alone" (love the Doggett/Scully hug), "Essence", and "Existence". I just don't believe that the boys at 1013 should play to the majority of the fan base that can't handle that they may not get to see Mulder and Scully in a relationship. In my opinion, that is what the point of these episodes were, to please the complainers. I also would like to state that I believe the whole Scully pregnancy was a ratings device, to keep the David Duchovny portion and MSR portion of the fanbase watching through Season 8. Oh and I still believe that the father of Scully's bastard child is a group of old men that created the chip in her neck, though I do like to think that the CSM had something to do with it in "En Ami", unless of course we find out that Scully and Doggett were involved before Doggett was even introduced on the show and that her bastard child is the result of some heavy-duty D&S quality time ;)
Since I didn't really pay much attention to the Season 9 "mytharc", I don't really know how to say I don't like the eps (Brad Follmer was in a majority of them and I adore that character). The Season 9 episodes I cannot stomach to watch ever again are: "Improbable", "William" (well they did get rid of the bastard child, but not in the way I would have liked... ya know... with a bazuka), "The Truth" (don't even get me started on how unfair that ep was to fans who continued to watch XF even after DD "Mr. Ego" left the show. Doggett and Reyes deserve much better than what they got. For a full rant on my opinion on "The Truth", click here.
Some thoughts on Season 9: I could have done without the premiere episodes. I had the first episode on mute since I heard baby crying, I found my ceiling to be much more interesting (it resembles cottage cheese!). I adore/love/worship the stand alone episodes of Season 9 (save for "Improbable", uuuugggghhhh! *spits*). I like how it has been confirmed that Doggett has special feelings for Scully ("Daemonicus"), I really hope they explore more of that this season (which they didn't because they are afraid of change and working with characterization). I didn't find the interaction between Monica and Doggett to be more than friendly. Like Mulder and Scully, Mon' and John are friends :) I love that Terry O'Quinn guest starred. I wish they had brought back Frank Black, along with Peter Watts (I still don't think he's dead, we never saw his face)<--- I'm now talking about the Millennium series.
Anyway, these are just my opinions, if I receive flames, I'll take a brief moment to laugh at them and then they will be deleted. Do not expect a response from me.
