- Notes -
Gambler's Coast Pirates! A dwarven sister and brother pair calling themselves 'Bloody Bruma' and 'Killin' Kier Scar-eye' their crew the 'Happy Jack's Murderin' Crew' and they've been terrorizing the whole Gambler's Coast. Most brutal pirates since Lucian Nathanial Flinte over a hundred years ago. Folk are whispering that they may well target Redemption for the haunted ruins nearby, seeking what treasures previous looters may have missed.
Redemption As much as it is touted as a place where one can wipe the slate clean, the sheriff is an unfortunate choice, one Tobey Cooper Tweed, or 'Two-Faced Tweed' as he is more accurately known, corrupt as they come and many of the folk who head there seeking solace turn back as soon as they find out who's in charge.
- People -
Annie Colds
ok, Annie, shes kinda sweet on you...
Arjiss: the two of you havent had sex, or even went past the occasional hand holding, but the two of you (at your discretion) have exchanged a few little kisses...no tongue
Can teach me: Your strawyberry-blond cutie can teach you a lot of smithing if you're curious as well.
Shes the daughter of the towns smith, she is a weaponsmith and fighter by trade, part of the town militia, and she's always been pretty nice to you, of course, she's nice to everyone. She's my sweetie! Not that she knows that.. Annie kind of likes you too, she might even have kissed you on the cheek a few times or held your hand on occasion. She's a bit of a tomboy, but pretty with strawberry blonde hair. Strong girl, solid legs and shoulders on her, and a strong but very pretty face, about 5'6", about 150 lbs or so, her father was a smith and is also in the militia, her taught her well. She's also pretty religious, but her family doesnt judge, her father and your mam always seemed on guarded but friendly terms. She grew up without a mother, and you without a father, so there was some common ground there, and while the two of you didnt get to spend a lot of time togather growing up, when you did it was a very enjoyable time.
Annie is the consumate good girl, if a little tomyboyish... kind to everyone, but shy when it comes to romance, offering only a little at a time. Mora is the epitome of Tiefling intensity...she doesnt do anything half assed, fighting, making out, whatever...
Bren Reyer
Bren is still out doorsy...
Arjiss: but hes lost the natural athlete thing, he is clumsy, small, and scrawny. Still brave, but hardly a fighter...
Arjiss: hes also missing his left ear.
Arjiss: It was wan accident when he was little, he doesnt like to talk about it
Arjiss: He wears his hair a little longer to cover it, which only leads to more teasing from the Kelm boys...
Can teach me: More about Bren...Bren is a great card player, a clever tactician, and a natural athlete...hes not a wuss, Brennen was just too big for him to take on, despite their similar names, they are as differant as night and day...anyway, he can teach you Profession (card games), and is also a good outdoorsman, he was always one of the best of your little gang at picking paths through the forest
Another pal of yours from childhood. Small, thin, with red hair and freckles, he fancies himself a ladies man but the closest he's ever actually gotten to a lady was when Mora called him on his exploits, licking his ear with her tongue and causing him to fall out of a small tree. He's never lived it down. Despite his occasional tendancy to brag, he's a good friend, open and honest. He is also fiercley loyal, and is a good friend of Annie's, even getting into a huge fight once with Brennen to defend her honour (he was promptly annihilated). He is also a brilliant card player and a member of the local milita.
Gabrielle Belle
she is about 5'2", and very sonsy, with dark skin, dark eyes, and black hair... her ears are slightly pointed, indicating some elven heritage. She is the adopted daughter of one of the wealthier couples in town, a Mr. and Mrs. Belle. Gabbrielle is a quiet lass, coy and well mannered, she wears various dresses about town, and has learned she can get what she wants out of boys with little more then a smile or batted eyelash.
Sourapple
The meanest horse in town, Sourapple is an old, pissed off, cranky Strawberry Roan. He's slightly famous, as part of the yearly Thistlebane Fair is called the "SourApple Challange", wherein people attempt to ride the horse...so far, he's unbeaten. He's an ugly cuss, little pig eyes and a big roman nose, mean as hell, likes to bite. In fact, the only person he lets remotely get close to him is Annie, and only if she brings him apples. She refuses to try to ride him, because "We are friends, and I'm not that stupid."
Mora Notter - "Rat Tail" She hates the nickname, but its what everyone calls her, everyone but me.
Can teach me: Mora is happy to teach you all about being quiet, sleight of hand, hiding, making traps (shes a cunning trapper), picking locks, that sort of thing. Oh, shes also great at climbing and carving crap out of wood with that knife of hers...shes also got amazing reflexes, another reason shes a great sucker puncher and troublemaker.
Mora, her real name, is another of your childhood aqquaintances, she's got short, dark brown hair, cut pretty similer to your mam, but their similarities end there pretty much. She is a misfit like you, but unlike you, she had no powerful witch to protect her. Though townsfolk may whisper about your mum having demon-blood, for Mora there is no doubt. Her curved ivory horns, skin spattered by dark markings, intense green eyes, and long, hairless tail make it clear to see where her ancestry lies. She is quite beautiful, aside from these traits, if a little scruffy. She is 5'8" tall and leggy, possessing a frame well suited for running and fighting. She is the town freak, both bullied and a bully, cruel at times but kind at others, a thief and tale-spinner. She lives with her aunt and cruel uncle on a small spread outside of town. Her uncle is a bitter drunk, among other things. She came from a town far to the north, called Kolya, arriving in this town just as you were getting to go out on your own as a child. As a child, she claimed her father is is a legendary knight in Kolya, and is going to come find her someday. She also claimed Kolya had candy stores on every corner, and talking dogs, but since she is a liar and tall-tale teller, nobody believed her. She was generaly good to you (very good as we'll soon learn), but very difficult to manage and always egging you on to do things that your mam definitly wouldnt approve of. She and Annie never saw eye to eye. Annie was always a good girl, obedient and law abiding, where Mora was anything but. Nontheless, Annie was always good to her anyway, as she is with everyone. Your mam was kind enough to her as well, tending to the various bruises and cuts the girl always seemed to possess when their paths crossed.
Mora was always getting into fights, and butting heads with the Kelm brothers, Brennen, Francis, and Tom, the town bullies. She generally lost the fights, but when she found herself with the upper hand, she never ceased to abuse it. One of the darkest days of the Kelm / Mora war, was when Mora's beloved kitten was drowned by Brennen Kelm. Not long after, the Kelm's prize hunting hounds were found, strangled and hanging from a tree. Though Mora claims to have nothing to do the incident, most of the townsfolk think otherwise, calling the girl dangerous and vengeful. She was always good to you, however, offering you sweets and candy when she had them, and whittling you toys with her trusty knife. She was older then you, a little older then Annie, and while its up to you how close you let her get, it was quite clear she fancied you in her own way.
Your true form was revealed to her when you encountered her at a swimming hole as teenagers. She saw you in the water, and promptly peeled off her clothing and joined you. Eventually, playful splashing grew into something more, as she aggressively made advances on you. In your terror at your first female sexual advance, you accidently shifted to your true shape, abruptly halting the romantic rendezevous. She grabbed her clothing and ran away in a panic, but returned to you the next day, saying she hadnt told a soul, nor would she, and that "we all have secrets."
She is a little older then Annie, about 19 now...everyone expected (and wishes) she'd go away, but for some damned reason she keeps sticking around...and shes gotten more and more dangerous since, even the Kelms are little more hesitent to mess with her now...they are afraid she's gonna use that knife of hers on'em.
The Kelm Brothers -
The Kelms are privledged children, for this small town. Their father, Earnest Kelm, is quite wealthy and one of the most influential people in this town. Their mother, Magdalene Kelm is known more for her husbands wealth and influence then she is for a short career as a stage actress, and she is a little bitter about this fact. Earnest Kelm is a thick, beefy man, with short fat fingers, thick sideburns, and never seen without his tailored suits or his fearsome scowl. Fond of the pipe and the ring, he has hands in the boxing matches of Treast, and is often gone to the city on business. Nontheless, he is quite blustery and very pleased with his sons, or at least most of them.
His four sons are Brennen, Francis, Tom, and Will. Brennen, Francis, and Tom are large, thick young men, especially Brennen, the largest, meanest, and best fighter of the lot. The three are natural athletes, keen on hunting and fighting, as well as bullying. They have won the Thistlebane's Brawl the past two years, and their reign of terror has never been worse. Brennen is fond of carrying a heavy stick, his "Rat Stick", which manages to find it way across Mora's back or legs at least once a week.
William Kelm is a hulking brute of a man, larger then even Brennen, standing 6'6" and weighing over 300 pounds of solid, beefy muscle. Born with a twisted foot and a cleft lip, his stringy black hair obscures much of his face, but on the rare glimpses you've seen of his eyes, they seemed dead to the world already, despite his young age (early 20s). He rarely talks, instead usually wheezing, but when he does, its a raspy, tired growl that commands attention.
His father detests him, and his brothers fear him and what he can do. He rarely comes to the town anymore, but when he does he is given a wide berth, except by Mora, who seems curiously intrigued by him. For William Kelm is a Magi, and a dangerous one. Nobody knows where he lives, he just rides in a few times a year to visit with his mother.
Magdalene Kelm is a thick, tall woman, not unpretty, but a little heavy. She always seems sad, so sad, and a little bitter, as well as lonely. Her three sons treat her more like a servant then a mother, and her husband tends to ignore her as well. The townsfolk treat her with respect, but not so much for who she is, but who she is married too. She is also not well liked, again, not so much for who she is, but for whom she is married too. Despite this, she has won some favourable supporters in the town, especially from Father Mitchell, the towns priest. You see, Mrs. Kelm supports the church, and offers money to help supply the needy with warm meals on occasion. She also helps provide the needy with presents at the end of the year. She is a good hearted woman with the sad misfortune of being married to a brutish, hateful husband, and of being a mother to three brutish, hateful sons.
Witch-mama pities her a little bit. When Mrs. Kelm gave you a bit of copper once for "helping" her carry a package, Witchy Mam remarked "That poor woman did not deserve what happened to her." but did not elaborate further...
Kelber and Miora Brunn
One of the only dwarven families in this small town, this husband and wife run the local candy shop. They lost their sons (all six of them) in war, and the sadness of this loss hangs over them on the best of days. Kelber also belongs to the local militia, and is one of the best fighters in town. It was a war far to the south, during the giant-ogre / dwarf war. Dun-Kora'Skald fell, and they lost all six sons that day. it was a short conflict, but a brutal one, many dwarves were lost during the Giant-kin expansion, they claimed the mountain range for themselves that year.
Peter Coal:Doc Coal
hes a really nice guy, a drunk though, but a good doctor. He's got string hair and a mustache, tries to take care of the people who come to him, but he doesnt talk about where he is from, though some people remark they hear him talking to himself a lot
Arjiss: Some folk think hes crazy, but hes a good doctor regardless...him and your witchmamma are on good terms too, if a bit guarded...they are pretty much the town medics. Doc Coals house, its a little bit away from the town, across a small field.
the weathered, bleary eyed face of Doc Coals. His hair is dark, salt n' pepper and stringy, and he has a large, bushy mustache.
Arjiss: His eyes are kind, but watery, bleary, and red, with large dark circles underneath them.
Arjiss: He wears dark slacks and a white shirt, with suspenders, he looks like he has slept in them. You can smell alcahol on his breath. His hair is a little shorter then shoulder length and has a "I havent had time to get it cut in a long, long time" look to it. His house is beyond cluttered, stacks of books and papers are everywhere.
Jachal Swift:
A kindly farmer with a wife and three sons, and one daughter. He seems to know and be on good terms with witch-mam, visiting her on occasion for advice and bringing her food from his crops. In return, any pest problems he have seem to quickly disapear, and his food always seems to grow well.
Seth Dixon
The head of the local militia. He's a middling tall man, well built, with a mustache and dirty brown hair in his 30s. He is married with a young son. Hes a former soldier and good, hard working man, but he highly dislikes Mora (along with most everyone else).
Walter and Mary Notter
They are Mora's uncle and aunt. Walter is a bitter, violent drunk, and Mary is painfully thin, quiet woman. Walter is a dangerous SOB, he is strong, he is mean, and he knows how to fight when he gets riled up...he's also seemingly completly unafraid of killing someone.
Clifford Strong
A beanpole of a man.
Clayton and Diana Fairchild
Julia Fairchild is 18 years of age, from a family of hunters, archers and leatherworkers that live on the outskirts of town. Often away from town, she is a fairly cute and well figured girl (hourglass figure and B to C cup breasts) (app 15 on the random dice), though dressed in pants and boots more often than not, adorned with leather and fur that she saves for herself. She is often slightly dirty or smudged from something or other in the woods and fields, and possesses a very fun loving down to earth nature, and a slight disdain from traditional lawful authority which has had very little impact on her more outback life. She has dirty blond hair tied in a braid down her back (random dice, not meant to resemble the actual Leandra) and blue eyes. Her face is of a smiling and friendly, although impish and saucy, nature and she always has a bow (and usually a knife) with her.
Lexa
A half goblin looking girl who is in town to compete in the Thistlebane's magic competition. Originally from
