THE VILLAGE OF VRISES ON CRETE
This village of Vrises (because there are two: one in the east close to Neapoli, and this one in the Vamos area) lies on the beginning of the road that leads down to
Chora Sfakion, in the Apakoronas area (close to Georgioupolis). On the platia
there are very big trees on both sides of the river, that leads into the sea at
Georgioupolis. The village is renowned for it's goat cheese and yoghurt. The
most attractive item: the large church that you can see from a long distance. Vrysses (or Vrisses) is a new village dating back to 1925. It is located on the
road which links the north coast with Sfakia. There is not much to do in
Vrysses but the rivers that flow through its centre make it a nice place to
escape the summer heat, in the shade of the giant plane trees. Vrysses is also
famous for its excellent yoghurt.
