PETRES BEACH IN CRETE Petres...hmmm, there's not much to tell about it. It's located just off the road between Rethimnon and Georgioupolis, close to Gerani, at the Petres bridge. There are two primitive authentic Greek tavernas at the small beach, and it's very quiet. On the other side of the bridge is the start of a very long and more cultivated sandbeach which stretches all the way to the village of Georgioupolis (10 km long). Petres is a nice place for a break, and the scenery is very beautiful. You find lots of rocks in the sea and a lot of wild flowers (well, I gues that depends on which time of the year you are there...). At Petres Beach there are a couple of houses and is a handfull of taverna's and hotels (Studios Petres, Hotel Kanakis, Villa Katharina Apartments). The beaches are scattered around the area. Next to one of the beaches there is a dive center with large palmtrees on its grounds (Paradise Dive Center). On this beach there are a couple of umbrellas and some sunbeds as well and it is very quiet (most of the people go to the longer beach on the other side so you might have this one to yourself). All of this is situated close to the main road. On the other side of Petres there is a long stretched beach (Karoti). On the other side of the road there is a nice church.

Studios Petres near the beach of Petres In West Crete, in the department of Rethymno, between the two mountains Lefka Ori (White Mountains) and Idi Oros (Idi Mountains), you can find the Tavern Dimitris Vassilakis Artimis along the road to Chania in the Petres hamlet, about 10 km away the city of Rethymno. Approximately 50 metres from the Tavern, there are 3 studios and 3 apartments built with terrace and view of the Cretan Sea. The studios are suitable for 2 / 3 persons and the apartments for 4 / 5 persons. At a distance of 20 meters from your terrace is the private beach. The studios each have two single beds, a closet, toilettable, kitchen with refrigerator, air conditioning and a bathroom. In one of the studios is a double bed. The apartments each have 2 rooms and a kitchen. All the bathrooms are equipped with sink, w.c. And shower. Sheets and towels (no beachtowels) are changed twice a week. The studios and apartments are cleaned once a week.
