Even more coming here soon, as
I plan to post more memories, stories,
and pictures of the farmhouse from other
family members. For starters, I have my

Uncle Bill's story,

  A Trip to the Farm

(story about the farmhouse of old
                      by Bill Fidler)

Before the Upstairs Porch (approx. 1900)...

Much earlier picture, taken before the upstairs porch was built. Unfortunately
we don't know who most of these people are (original photo not labeled) except
  for the obvious (
George, Sophronia, and Mary Jane (Hudson) Fidler). So this is
obviously before Mary died (1903) but presumably after
William Jr. died in 1901
as he is missing from the picture. So, this picture must be 1901-1903, making
George about 34 and Sophronia about 30.

The earlier front porch had "gingerbread" trim (see above
and below ). For whatever reason, the fancy stuff was
permanently removed when the upstairs porch was added.

Another picture a few years later still showing gingerbread trim but no Mary Jane so presumably after her death in 1903. George and Sophronia the two on the far right.
