Lip Pic
Lips are generally pierced off to the left or right, and are sometimes pierced in the middle (labret).

- procedure -

1. The outside area of the mouth is well cleaned with hydrogen peroxide. The mouth is then rinsed out with Listerine for 30 sec. or more.

2. A clamp is placed on the lip, and the lip is then stretched slightly to that it is away from the teeth and gums.

3. A mark with a marker is used to identify the area to be pierced.

4. The hollow needle is inserted throught the lip.

5. A captive bead hoop, or labret stud is inserted into the hollow needle. Captive beads are more recommended to start out with because they are easier to clean. You can always change to a stud later.

6. The needle is then pulled the remainder of the way through and the piercing is complete.

- aftercare -

As with most piercings, you will feel a slight discomfort for the first few days. Slight swelling can also be expected. This can be remedied a little by sucking on ice, or a popsicle.

After you eat or drink anything other than water you must wash out your mouth with Listerine to prevent infection. Clean the outside of the piercing three times a day with a Q-Tip and Hydrogen Peroxide.

After 4-5 weeks the jewelry can be changed. Because this piercing never completely heals, jewelry should be worn at all times.
