Divinity of Jesus Christ

 Outline

They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary. " But said Christ: "O children of Israel! worship Allah my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the garden and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. [Holy Qur'an 5:72]

This similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam: He created him from dust then said to him: "Be" and he was. The truth (comes) From thy Lord alone: So be not of those who doubt. [Holy Qur'an 3:59-60]

Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a saintly woman. They both ate earthly food. See! How clear We make for them Our messages. Yet see! How they are deluded away from the truth. [Holy Qur'an 5:78]

 FIRST RESPONSE

Spiritual, Language and Allegory. The following are some examples:

Jesus is God because he said "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." [Revelation 22:13]

These words of Jesus did not directly come out of his mouth. The book of revelation was a DREAM, a VISION. In this vision, John also sees beasts with many heads, which had eyes inside and eyes outside, horns inside and horns outside. He saw many other fantasies in this dream.

Suppose that these words were uttered by Jesus in this dream, it does not mean that he is claiming divinity. Everything existed with God's knowledge before anything was created. This is why Jesus also said "Before Abraham was, I am". God, who had no beginning, had the knowledge of everything that He would create, so we all existed with God before we were created. We will always be in the knowledge of God, when everything will perish. When the Hour will come, man will enter paradise or will be thrown into hell. But where ever his destiny may be, he will live there ETERNALLY, forever.

There was a man who had qualities which outshined that of Jesus:

"For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God,...
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually."
[Hebrews 7:1-3]

So this man Melchisedec, king of Salem (meaning peace, Islam in Arabic), a priest, he had neither a father, nor a mother, nor beginning of days or end of life. Jesus had a mother, so this man was superior in nature than Jesus Christ.

Jesus is God according to [John 1:1] "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Please note that these are not the words of Jesus. They are the words of John (or whoever wrote them). Acknowledged by every erudite Christian scholar of the Bible as being the words of another Jew, Philo of Alexandra, who had written them even before John and Jesus were born. And Philo claimed no divine inspiration for them. No matter what mystical meaning that Philo had woven around these words (which our John had plagiarised) we will accept them for what they are worth.

Since the manuscripts of the 27 Books of the New Testament are Greek, a Christian sect has produced its own version and has even changed the name of this selection of 27 Books to "CHRISTIAN GREEK SCRIPTURE"!

Let's analyse the original Greek verse:

What is the Greek word for "GOD" the first time it occurs in the quotation - "and the Word was with God"? The word there is HOTHEOS, which literally means "THE GOD". Since the European (including the North American) has evolved a system of using capital letter to start a proper noun and small letters for common nouns, we would accept his giving a capital "G" for God; in other words HOTHEOS is rendered "the god" which in turn is rendered - God.

Now, what is the Greek word for "God" in the second occurrence in your quotation "and the Word was God"? The word is TONTHEOS, which means "a god". According to your own system of translating you ought to have spelt this word God a second time with a small "g" i.e. god, and not God with a capital "G"; in other words TONTHEOS is rendered "a god". Both of these, "god" or "a god" are correct.

But in [2 Corinthians 4:4] you have dishonestly reversed your system by using a small "g" when spelling GOD - "(and the devil is) the god of this world." The Greek word for "the god" is HOTHEOS the same as in John 1:1. Why have you not been consistent in your translations? If Paul was inspired (?) to write hotheos - the God for the Devil, why begrudge him that capital "G"? Why do you do this? Why do you play fast and loose with the Word of God?

And in the Old Testament, the Lord said unto Moses, "see, I have made thee a god to Pharoah" [Exodus 7:1]. Why do you use a small "g" for "GOD" when referring to Moses instead of a capital "G" as you do for a mere word - "WORD" = "and the Word was God."?

Jesus said "I and the Father are one." [John 10:30]

Then what about the disciples in this verse:

"That they (the disciples) all may be ONE; as thou, Father, ART IN ME, and I IN THEE, that THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US" [John 17:21]. (A THIRTEEN-IN-ONE God???)

And in this verse:

"... Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, THAT THEY MAY BE ONE, AS WE ARE." [John 17:11]

Same "one" is being used in all of the above verses.

No one is equal to God:

"To whom then will you liken me, or shall I be equal? Saith the Holy One." [Isaiah 40:25-26]

Verse is read out of context. See under next heading.

Jesus said "Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me:" [John 14:11]

Again, what about the disciples in this verse:

"That they (the disciples) all may be ONE; as thou, Father, ART IN ME, and I IN THEE, that THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US" [John 17:21]. (A THIRTEEN-IN-ONE God???)

And in this verse:

"At that day ye (the disciples) shall know that I am in my Father, and YE IN ME, AND I IN YOU." [John 14:20]

In the above verses, "one" means "One-ness" in purpose i.e. same goal. The goal to guide mankind to the worship of God alone.

Jesus explains how God is in him:

"Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I SPEAK NOT OF MYSELF: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." [John 14:10]

Jesus said "...He that hath seen me hath seen the Father." [John 14:9]

Read the context...what is before and what is after:

Philip asked Jesus to show him the Father. Jesus explains to him that if he had known him (Jesus) then he should have known the Father also (through knowledge from Jesus). He tells him that from henceforth (meaning therefore) if you "know" the Father, then you have "seen" the Father:

"If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth YE KNOW HIM, and HAVE SEEN HIM." [John 14:7]

Therefore Jesus makes the remark "he that hath seen me hath seen the Father". Finally he asks Philip 'How can you say then "show us the Father?"' (which is not possible):

"have I been so long with you, and yet thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father: and HOW SAYETH THOU THEN, SHEW US THE FATHER?". [John 14:9]

We were all created in the image (knowledge) of God:

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." [Genesis 1:27]

God cannot be seen:

"God is a SPIRIT:" [John 4:24]

"...Ye have NEITHER HEARD HIS VOICE at any time, NOR SEEN HIS SHAPE." [John 5:37]

"Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom NO MAN HATH SEEN, NOR CAN SEE:" [1 Timothy 6:16]

"NO MAN HATH SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME;" [John 1:18]

"And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. YE HAVE NEITHER HEARD HIS VOICE AT ANY TIME, NOR SEEN HIS SHAPE." [John 5:37]

"And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall NO MAN SEE ME, AND LIVE." [Exodus 33:20]

Jesus regarded himself as "the only way": "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me." [John 14:6]

Contradicted by:

"The Peter opened his mouth...But IN EVERY NATION he that feareth him (God), and worketh righteousness, IS ACCEPTED with him (God)." [Acts 10:34-35]

Jesus called God "Father and "Abba"

Anyone can call God "Father" according to the Bible:

"Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto MY FATHER, and YOUR FATHER; and to MY GOD, and YOUR GOD." [John 20:17]

Jesus said "I Am": "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." [John 8:58]

So did a beggar who was healed by Jesus:

"Some said, This is he (the beggar): others [said], He is like him: [but] he said, I AM [he]." [John 9:9]

The SAME Greek word for "I Am" used by Jesus is used here by the beggar. Please note that "he" was not uttered by the beggar. This was added by the translators. The word is not present in the original manuscripts. Can you see that it is italicised or bracketed in your Bible?

The Jews asked the beggar about Jesus:

"And he said, 'He is a PROPHET.'" [John 9:17]

We all existed in the knowledge of God before we were created. God was always present, and we too were with God, but that does not mean that we were Gods. We existed in the knowledge of God and he then created us.

Jesus was called Messiah

Messiah is a very common noun in Hebrew. Translated into Greek it becomes "Christos", and into English it becomes Christ. In plain English it means ANOINTED! Every where the word "anointed" appears in the English translation of the Bible (any version) that word in the Hebrew original is invariably the word "MESSIAH"! Here are a few ready examples:

David was called Messiah:

"The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his ANOINTED (messiah)." [Psalms 2:2] ... (Christ David!)

"I have found DAVID my servant; with my holy oil have I ANOINTED (messiah) him:" [Psalms 89:20] ... (Christ David!)

God addresses even a pagan king (Cyrus) as his Messiah:

"Thus saith the LORD to his ANOINTED (messiah), to CYRUS, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him;" [Isaiah 45:1] ... (Christ Cyrus!)

Other examples:

"I am the God of Beth-el where thou ANOINTEDEST (messiah) the PILLAR..." [Genesis 31:13] ... (Christ Pillar!)

"And Moses took the ANOINTED (messiah) OIL, and ANOINTED (messiah) the TABERNACLE..." [Leviticus 8:10] ... (Christ Oil! and Christ Tabernacle!)

"...he (the Lord) shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the HORN of his ANOINTED (messiah)..." [1 Samuel 2:10 ] ... (Christ Horn!)

"Thou art the ANOINTED (messiah) CHERUB..." [Ezekiel 28:14] ... (Christ Cherub!)

Jesus was called Saviour

So was Jeho'ahaz:

"And Jehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them. (And the Lord gave Israel a SAVIOUR, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime. Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)" [2 Kings 13:4-6]

Used in the plural sense:

"And SAVIOURS shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's." [Obadiah 1:21]

"Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them SAVIOURS, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies." [Nehemiah 9:27]

Jesus was called Lord

Term does not necessarily mean God:

Used in the New Testament to mean "teacher" or "master". Distinction between "Lord" and "God" is made in this verse:

"But to us there is but ONE GOD, THE FATHER, of whom are all things, and we in him; and ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, by whom are all things, and we by him." [1 Corinthians 8:6]

Jesus said that on the day of Judgment, many will say to him "Lord, Lord". But he will say to them "depart from me (get lost!), I never knew you":

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: DEPART FROM ME, YE THAT WORK INEQUITY." [Matthew 7:21-23]

Jesus was filled with the Holy Ghost

Many were filled with the Holy Ghost:

BEFORE CHRIST'S BIRTH:

(1) Luke 1:15 ...and he (John the Baptist) shall be filled with the HOLY GHOST, even from his mother's womb.

(2) Luke 1:41 ...and Elizabeth was filled with the HOLY GHOST.

(3) Luke 1:67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the HOLY GHOST.

AFTER CHRIST'S BIRTH:

(4) Luke 2:26 ...and the HOLY GHOST was upon him (Simeon).

(5) Luke 3:22 And the HOLY GHOST descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him (Jesus).

(6) John 20:21-22 ...as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you (the disciples of Jesus), And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, RECEIVE YE THE HOLY GHOST.

AFTER CHRIST'S DEPARTURE FROM THIS WORLD:

"For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:" [Acts 11:24-25]

etc. etc.

Jesus could do miracles. He fed five thousands people with only five loaves and two fishes.

The same was done by Elisha and Elijah:

Elisha fed a hundred people with twenty barley loaves and a few ears of corn [II Kings 4:44]: "So he set it before them and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the Lord." Elisha secured the increase of a widow's oil and he said to her [II Kings 4:7]: "Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest." See also [I Kings 17:16]: "And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the curse of the oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah."

Also [I Kings 17:6]: "And the ravens brought him [Elijah] bread and flesh in the morning, bread and flesh in the evening, and he drank of the rook."

Jesus could heal leprosy

So did Elisha:

Elisha told Naaman who was a leper to wash in the Jordan river:

"Then went he [Naaman] down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God [Elisha]: and his flesh came again like unto a flesh of a little child, and he was clean." [II KINGS 5:14]

Jesus could cause a blind man to see again

"Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind." [John 9:32]

What an exaggeration! It's a pity that John was unaware of Elisha.

Elisha also caused a blind man to see again:

"And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And Lord opened the eyes of the young man: and he saw..." [II Kings 6:17]

"And it came to pass when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, Lord open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria." [II Kings 6:20]

Elisha was also told to cause blindness:

"And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha." [II Kings 6:18]

Jesus could raise the dead

Compare with Elijah:

"And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah: and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived." [I Kings 17:22]

Compare also with Elisha:

"And he [Elisha] went up, lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands; and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm." [II Kings 4:34]

Even the dead bones of Elisha could restore a dead body to life by touching only:

"And it came to pass, as they were burying man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulcher of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet." [II Kings 13:21]

Jesus walked on water

Similar to the miracle of Moses:

Moses stretched out his arms over the sea and made a path in the water and walked through it:

"And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left." [Exodus 14:22]

Jesus could cast out devils

Jesus himself admitted that other people can do it:

"And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges." [Matthew 12:27] and [Luke 11:19]

Also the disciples could cast out devils as Jesus said:

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesised in thy name: and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done wonderful works?" [Matthew 7:22]

Even false prophets would do wonders, as prophesised by Jesus himself:

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." [Matthew 24:24]

But Elijah and Elisha did wonders through praying to the Lord.

Who was the real worker of the miracles of Jesus?

"Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, A MAN APPROVED OF GOD among you by miracles and wonders and signs, WHICH GOD DID BY HIM in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know" [Acts 2:22]

Jesus did the miracles with the grace of God, as he himself said:

"I CAN OF MINE OWN SELF DO NOTHING..." [John 5:30]

and

"But if I WITH THE FINGER OF GOD cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you." [Luke 11:20]

All miracles performed by Jesus had been done by previous prophets, disciples, and even unbelievers. On the other hand...

Jesus could not do mighty work where there was unbelief:

"And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went around about the village, teaching." [Mark 6:5,6]

But Jesus was resurected three days after he had died

Jesus did not die and neither was he resurected.

See the page titled "Crucifixion or Cruci-Fiction?"

Jesus Said that his words would not pass away

He also said that whatever he said was not his, but the father's:

"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and THE WORD WHICH YE HEAR IS NOT MINE, but the Father's which sent me." [John 14:24]

Was called "My God and My Lord" (John 20:28)

Could have been an expression of excitement because Thomas realised that Jesus was truly ALIVE.

So he makes the remark "my God and my Lord". Why didn't all the other disciples fall down on their knees and worshipped him? If I say to you "My God, how can you say such a thing?", am I addressing you as "God"?

When we realise something or we are shocked to hear something, we often slap our foreheads and say "My God". Are we addressing our listeners as Gods?

"My God" could have been referred to the Father in heaven and "My Lord" could have been referred to Jesus Christ. Distinction between "Lord" and "God" is made in this verse:

"But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." [1 Corinthians 8:6]

The word "Lord" is used in the New Testament to mean "teacher" or "master".

See the page "Crucifixion or Cruci-Fiction?" for the full explanation.

Jews tried to stone him for blasphemy (John 10:29-33)

Jews were to indict him "by hook or by crook", regardless of what he said. They may have considered him a false "Messiah". Jesus' answer was revealing (John 10:34). In Psalms 82:6, humans are called gods, allegorically, Moses was sent as "God" to the Pharoah (Exodus 7:1).

Read the context. It starts from from John 10:27:

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, NEITHER SHALL ANY MAN PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY HAND. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and NO MAN IS ABLE TO PLUCK THEM OUT OF MY FATHER'S HAND." [John 10:27-29]

Meaning that once a person has accepted Jesus as the Messiah, Jesus will guide that person and keep him on the right path. God too will help that person to stay on the right path. Therefore he says:

"I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE." [John 10:30]

"Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for BLASPHEMY; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. [John 10:31-33]

"Jesus answered them, is it not written in your law, I SAID, YE ARE GODS? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;" [John 10:34]

"Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?" [John 10:36]

"If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the FATHER IS IN ME, AND I IN HIM." [John 10:37-38]

"Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand," [John 10:39]

He argued that People are called "GODS" in the Old Testament:

"I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes." [Psalms 82:6-7]

"And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet." [Exodus 7:1]

Devil is also called god:

"In whom the god (the devil) of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not..." [2 Corinthians 4:4]

Compare this verse with John 1:1 where the Christian Scholars have used capital "G"'s and "W"'s when referring to Jesus.

 SECOND RESPONSE

Jesus always expressed his subordination to his God and Creator. The following are some examples:

Did nothing on his own authority

"I CAN OF MINE OWN SELF DO NOTHING: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me." [John 5:30]

"But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the FATHER GAVE ME COMMANDMENT, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence." [John 14:31]

"And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, IS NOT MINE TO GIVE, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father." [Matthew 20:23]

Spoke not on his own authority

"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and THE WORD WHICH YE HEAR IS NOT MINE, but the Father's which sent me." [John 14:24]

"I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. They (the disciples) understood not that he spake to them of the Father. Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I DO NOTHING OF MYSELF; BUT AS MY FATHER HATH TAUGHT ME, I SPEAK THESE THINGS." [John 8:26-28]

Said that the Father is greater than him

"Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for MY FATHER IS GREATER THAN I." [John 4:28]

Also:

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant (disciple) is not greater than his lord (Hebrew word Rabbi, meaning master or teacher); neither HE THAT IS SENT (i.e. Jesus) greater than HE THAT SENT HIM (i.e. God)." [John 13:16]

Was tempted by the devil

"Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil." [Matthew 4:1]

But God cannot be tempted:

"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" [James 1:13]

"Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." [Matthew 4:7]

He denied knowledge of unseen

"But of THAT DAY (day of judgment) and THAT HOUR knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, NEITHER THE SON, but the Father." [Mark 13:32]

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, NOR THE SON, BUT MY FATHER ONLY." [Matthew 24:36]

Jesus did not know that the tree had no fruit.

"And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, HE WAS HUNGRY: And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he MIGHT find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, HE FOUND NOTHING BUT LEAVES; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, NO MAN EAT FRUIT OF THEE HEREAFTER FOR EVER. And his disciples heard it." [Mark 11:12-14]

After all, it wasn't even a fig season!

Was subject to change. But God is Immutable.

Was Jesus was 100% God and 100% man?? Does that means that the man Jesus had 100% of God filled inside every cell of his body? Then what happened to the flesh of his foreskin when he was circumcised??

"And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. [Luke 2:21]

When it was cut off from his body, did a piece of God also get cut off?? But God is Immutable, how can you cut off a piece of God?? Didn't that piece of skin contained God inside it??

"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man." [Luke 2:52]

Did not accept to be called good and deferred to God

"And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? THERE IS NONE GOOD BUT ONE, THAT IS, GOD." [Mark 10:18]

Prayed to God: God prays to no one

"And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I SHALL PRAY." [Mark 14:32]

"And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and PRAYED." [Luke 5:16]

"And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" [Matthew 27:46]

Referred to himself as a prophet

"Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a PROPHET perish out of Jerusalem. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the PROPHETS, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!" [Luke 13:33-34]

"And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A PROPHET is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house." [Matthew 13:57]

Others called him a prophet

"And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great PROPHET is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people." [Luke 7:16]

"And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a PROPHET mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:" [Luke 24:19]

"Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that PROPHET that should come into the world." [John 6:14]

"Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the APOSTLE and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;" [Hebrews 3:1]

"Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth THIS IS THE PROPHET" [John 7:40]

"And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the PROPHET OF NAZARETH OF GALILEE." [Matthew 21:10-11]

Referred to as a servant of God

"Behold my SERVANT, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles." [Matthew 12:18]

"The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his SERVANT Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go." [Acts 3:13]

Referred to himself frequently as Son of man

For example:

"And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the SON OF MAN hath not where to lay his head." [Matthew 8:20]

Did Jesus Raise Himself Up?

"Whom God hath raised up." [Acts 2:24]

God raised him up. Jesus did not have the power to raise himself up. God had to raise him up, as the author of Acts says.

Who is the real Worker of Miracles?

"Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, A MAN APPROVED OF GOD among you by miracles and wonders and signs, WHICH GOD DID BY HIM in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know" [Acts 2:22]

Jesus was only a man whom God approved of and GOD did miracles through him. Jesus did not do the miracles himself.

Made a distinction between himself and the Father

"But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for ONE IS YOUR FATHER, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for ONE IS YOUR MASTER, even CHRIST." [Matthew 23:8-10]

Said that people will worship him uselessly

"But in VAIN they do WORSHIP ME, teaching for DOCTRINES the commandment OF MEN." [Matthew 15:9]

THIRD RESPONSE

Many other verses in the Bible contradict the idea that Jesus could be God. Here are some examples:

"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD:" [Mark 12:29]

"See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no God with me." [Deuteronomy 32:39]

"Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour." [Isaiah 43:10-11]

"Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." [Isaiah 44:6]

"I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me." [Isaiah 45:5]

"For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else." [Isaiah 45:18]

"Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." [Isaiah 45:21-22]

"Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me," [Isaiah 46:9]

"...we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is NONE OTHER GOD BUT ONE." [1 Corinthians 8:4]

"For there is ONE God, and one mediator between God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus" [1 Timothy 2:5]

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast SENT." [John 17:3] ... (One who sends is greater than the one who is sent)

What God Is Not

[Job 25:4] How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? (meaning that anything that is born of a woman is not clean, and how can something that is unclean be associated with God).

[Job 25:5] Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. (What are the moon and stars in the sight of God? Nothing!).

[Job 25:6] How much less MAN, that is a MAGGOT? and the SON OF MAN, which is a WORM? (men are maggots, and the "son of man" is a worm in the sight of God).

See how a distinction is made between normal "man" and "the Son of man"?? Who is the "son of man"? Eighty-three times in the Holy Bible, Jesus Christ is referred to as the "son of man". In case you have a doubt in the back of your mind that Jesus was an exception, God is telling us that this Jesus of mine is no exception. Man is nothing but a maggot, and the "son of man" (Jesus) is but a WORM (a degree higher than a maggot) in the sight of God.

The Bible Gives Us The Reason For Unnatural Acts

There are millions and millions of GAYS and LESBIANS, mostly in the western world, who are or were Christians. The Bible gives a reason why:

"Who CHANGED THE TRUTH of God into a lie, and WORSHIPPED and SERVED the creature (e.g. Jesus Christ) more than the Creator (God Almighty alone), who is blessed for ever. Amen. BECAUSE THEY DO THIS (worship the creation), God has given them over to shameful passions. Even their women pervert the natural use of their sex by UNNATURAL acts (like lesbianism and bestiality). In the same way, leaving the natural use of the woman, the men burn with passion for one another (as sodomites and homosexuals)." [The Good News Bible, Romans 1:25-27]
