One of two Sith Lords in existence at the time of the Naboo blockade, he was the apprentice to the Sith Lord Darth Sidious. Born with hornlike bones growing out of his head, Maul had his face tattooed in a terrifying mask of jagged red and black stripes. He was sent by Sidious to stop Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi in their mission to protect Naboo's Queen Amidala and end the blockade. Maul killed Qui-Gon with his double-bladed lightsaber and was in turn killed by Obi-Wan.
